Hi Friends,

I am trying to save myself from a trip to the delearship. I've been searching the threads for hours. Please help. My battery cable was disconnected and when I reconnected it, the interior trunk button, interior lock button, and interior unlock button doesn't work. The trunk doesn't close all the way and the doors only open with the second manual button from the outside. The trunk open indicator on the dash is always on. The doors lock and unlock from the fob and when the key is in the door. Trunk doesn't open with fob or interior button. What can I do?

Also If you disconnect the battery and reconnect, the arm disarm procedure will not work with the trunk open. Therefore the doors will only open with the mechanical button. You must latch the trunk with your finger, if it wont latch when closing, close all doors, lock then unlock with the remote. Your doors should open normally now. I just did this on one I have here.

Thanks n2euro for your help. It worked. I wasn't able to get the trunk closed but the electronic doors and locks now work. As soon as I got that working. The EPB beeping started. I really have to learn this car.

I ran into this last night and noticed something which hasn't been covered in the trunk won't close threads. If your battery went dead and you had to pull the manual trunk release to get to the battery, and now your trunk won't stay closed, there's a good chance that the manual release cable isn't returning all the way back to its original position and so the trunk won't stay locked. I found this out after I'd attempted everything that was mentioned here without luck, then I went to the release and noticed that it had about 1/4" of play, so I wiggled that and it returned to its position, withOUT the slack. And bingo! The trunk locked immediately.

Does anyone know how to adjust the lid so the button allows it to pop open without relatching? I tried the furniture pad thing but it still grabs and relatches again.

This has probably been mentioned previously, but if all the other solutions in this thread have been attempted with no result - as happened to me on my '07 QP
- battery was fine but trunk motor suddenly stopped working,
- trunk dash button/ key fob won't work, doors won't lock,
- fast flashing turn signals & door top red LEDs when locking doors with key FOB,
- constant dash warning/ beeping that trunk lid is open,
- trunk will only open with key,
- tried pushing latch manually while depressing trunk spring popper and when pushing button on key FOB,
- tried pushing some little latch doo-hicky to reset latch motor
- (is that all of them?),
then it could be that your car is getting old, and the electrical wires feeding the trunk latch motor have snapped.

I stopped by Auto Gallery service in Beverly Hills and one of the service techs was SUPER helpful - went above and beyond the call of duty. I had no appointment and I didn't know him - he just came out to the car with tools and fixed it on the spot.

He began by pulling the rubber conduit that surrounds the (latch motor & license plate light) wires out of the trunk lid at the back edge of the lid where the rubber conduit runs between the car body and trunk lid - just below the rear window.

This allowed him to fish the snapped wire out of the rubber tube, strip the wires, reconnect with electric wire connector, lock and unlock the doors after manually depressing the trunk latch and voila - the motor was working again.

This is something I could have done, but didn't know/ think to check the wiring. Apparently, these wires simply wear out with the opening and closing of the trunk lid over time, and eventually they all have to be re-connected.

I thought this might be helpful and I have to give props to Auto Gallery for hooking me up at the drop of a hat! Good folks!!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help. Car decided to mess me up this morning, typically I was at friends miles from home! Couldn't close the boot lid so tied down with string (this after an hour to get past the lockout cos it thought I'd tried to break in) drove home and searched through manual and online. Found this thread and thanks to n2euro and mutant 9 all seems back to normal. Cheer so guys I'm very grateful.

I have this issue. I have read two trails on this and done a lot of trouble shooting. Done all of the above and more. Done battery resets. The battery is completely charged. 08 qp gts

Remote doesn't unlock the trunk or lock or unlock the doors. Key does.
The key will only lock or unlock the door its in - it won't unlock other doors - not sure that's a feature.
The doors need the manual release pulled to get in.
The remote does set and unset the alarm.
The remote opens Windows when unlock button is pressed and held.
The alarm goes off when a door is opened.
There is never a sound or click in the trunk area when any of the trunk buttons (dash, remote or trunk lid) are pressed.
None of the release cables are strained or caught.
All wires test for connectivity.
The fuse f64 is good. No click or sound or heat from relay r21

Fwiw This happened when I put the on a furniture slider in the trunk to assist with the unlock relock issue.

Would love any more thoughts and ideas. Thanks. Jim in atlanta.

trunk will not open with the remote, it wont open manually and it will not open with the interior dash button. I know how to open it with the key. (that is not my issue) the issue is that the dash light indicating trunk is open stay lit. The trunk is not open. I tried everything that i read in this forum but to no avail. It seems as if a fuse blew. I looked in manuel and can not find a fuse related to this. Any suggestions. The button that locks and unlocks door in dash is also not functioning. It all happened at the same time when i inadvertently shut the trunk on a towel i had in the trunk.

I have a 2005 RHD Mk5 QP. I live in the UK. I left the car in the garage over winter, and the low amp charger -- 3 amps, got disconnected by accident, so the battery went flat. Disconnected the battery, full recharge, reconnect, put radio code in. Fine. Starts runs fine. BUT the keyfob doesn't open the boot/trunk, neither does the push button on the dash, neither does the push button on the boot lid. All the wires have been professionally restored near the hinges, by an autoelectrician that I have known for 25 years, I watched him restore the wiring, It's worked perfectly UNTIL I let the battery go flat whilst connected. What's with Maseratis that this happens?? Tried manually locking unlocking, disconnecting/reconnecting battery. Tried pushing various buttons, simultaneously. Nothing works. Any ideas?? Door locks work. Eight Flashes on the turn lamps when I lock the car. Someone must know what causes this.

This happened to me yesterday. I closed all of the doors, manually closed the trunk latch, then pushed in the plunger switch and hit lock and unlock while holding it in and everything started working again.

Hi everyone, I just went through some of the guides on this thread with a 09 quattroporte because after doing some worik on the car with a bad battery terminal, I couldnt get trunk to latch. I tried all the programming guides but none worked. Finally I tried to see if maybe there was a problem with the key cylinder in the trunk. There wasnt but sure enough when I turned the key a bit to the right it activated the electric trunk latch. Apparently if you have a dead battery and are forced to open the trunk with the key, when you are done make sure to turn the key in the opposite direction to once again activate latching. Hope this helps someone. Also, my negative terminal was shot, wouldnt come close to tightening, I had a marine terminal with a wing nut thats about 5 bucks at Advance auto parts, worked perfectly and very simple to disconnect battery again

My truck is doing the same thing, I let my battery go dead from not driving the truck and now I’m having this same problem. Did you get to the bottom of this issue if so can you give me the solution to the issue/ problem if you don’t mind.
