So still confused but I believe I read just because I am putting on new tires does NOT automatically mean I need to buy TPMS sensors....correct?

Yes, correct unless the TPMS battery is dead, then you need a new sensor. I heard Discount Tire can replace those sensors for $75 each even for our GT but not sure true or not. Can always call when you need one.

I tried many programmable TPMS sensors for my 2010 GTS with no success. Once I had the factory original RDE-001(I recall) it worked perfectly. I've read many individuals having success with other units. Would be nice to get input why it works for some and not others. I found in one discussion it could be the version of the TPMS Control Module?

There is a S/N cutoff in the 2011 model year for 2 different versions of the TPMS system.

For reference, visit the Parts section of Niello Maserati. If you go the OEM route, their price is decent for the sensors. I bought from them just because I've heard conflicting comments about aftermarket sensors, and for just a bit more $$ I didn't want to screw with it.

Hans.

The original HUf/Beru units are also used by VW and Porsche...You can cheap prices on them all over the internet..I don't fool with any of those programmable ones...I just use HUF and have never had one issue...Jason

I switched from Tridents to Neptune wheels and tpms hasn't worked since. Found out batteries were dead on at least 2 of them. I have a 2009 so apparently need the 433mhz.
My problem is living on Maui there is NO Maserati dealer or independent. I do have a Porshe/VW indy on Island.
I'm afraid to buy all 4 and have it still not work, so have been checking tire pressures old school, but blinking light on dash it taking it's toll on me. LOL
Any sure fire advice would be helpful. Thanks guys!

A little info/help would be appreciated....
I have an '11 GT C and the other day I had TPMS Malfunction show up on the screen. I can't get to the tire pressure screen pushing the mode button either. Would this be caused by dead sensors, or something else?

I had same issue, dealer said they didn’t know what was causing it and all they could do was try changing sensors or Tpms module. We tried sensors since it was cheaper. ($900 parts labor) It worked! Unfortunately problem came back 6 months later. I’m not throwing more money at the issue without certainty’s. With my luck I’ll change module and still have gremlin error code appear.

I totally hear what you're saying! Why does it have to be so complicated and unsure. A piece of electrical tape over the idiot light and old school manually checking your tire pressures is very tempting! LOL

So quick question on TPMS issue....still trying to get my 2016 GT to recognize the new TPMS that was installed....did the calibration button route - (But still need to drive 30 to 50 miles non stop to see if that works)....but here is my question: When I push the calibration "+" yes it does say calibration in progress and turns the little tire symbol on the dash to GREEN, however it only stays green for about 5 seconds then goes back to yellow....my question is whilst it is trying to calibrate should it be green the entire time that it is calibrating? (instead of going back to yellow after 5 seconds)

It will generally turn off the light, but the things are just goofy..Unless it says TPMS fault then I would try to drive it...It is calibrated when you use the mode function and it shows all the values...You don't need 30-50 miles...More like 10 miles and if that....You'll know if it works or not....Jason

Sounds like a rash of TPMS problems going around.... I also recently got the 'TPMS Malfunction' notification on my 2011 GT. Using an Autel TS608 I can trigger all 4 sensors and they show good pressure, temperature and battery status. The ECU shows similar values and that the sensor IDs in the ECU are the same as the wheels (as expected). The ECU is showing DTCs for low battery voltage on all 4 sensors which I can't clear. If when triggering the sensors I was getting a low battery indication it would all make sense, but, since the battery is showing OK not so sure if there isn't some other underlying problem (and odd all 4 are throwing DTC codes for low battery at the same time). Wouldn't be surprised though if there is a fine line between good / bad battery indication on the Autel and when the scanner shows an OK battery it's not strong enough to play nice with the TPMS. Anyone else ever encounter a similar problem? I don't know when or if the sensors where ever replaced (might even be original in which case I'm certainly on borrowed time) as I've only had the car a couple of years. Replacing the sensors is probably the smart first move, but, wondering if anyone had any wisdom to share. First time troubleshooting a TPMS system........
