Hi Guys,
I am overhauling all of my fluids and I thought I would get your opinions on the brands and weights you recommend. My car is a 2004 Maserati Coupe GT 6 Speed Manual Shift with 26,500 Miles.
The engine oil is the most grey area. I hear that a 15W 50 Mobil One is a great oil for the 4.2L once it has more than 20,000 miles on it but now I am hearing it is too heavy of a weight for cooler mornings (like we get in Calgary Alberta Canada even in the Spring, Summer, and Fall). I could just stick with the recommended 5W 40 Mobil One Synthetic that it comes with but I hear Ferrari owners are using 10W 60 Mobil One lately. What do you think?
The Transmission/ Differential Fluid is pretty straight forward; 75W 90 Synthetic with a GL rating of 4 to 5. The brand as per Maserati should be Shell. Any recommendations?
Finally I come to the issue of the coolant. This is something that is more critical to me because I have seen different brands and grades rust out the internals of an engine! The recommended brand according to Maserati is a Glyco Shell with a mix of 50/50 and a tolerance of -18C (24F). Do I have to stay with this or is there something better out there? Also what mix would you say is best?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
Cheers,
Maz :autofahrer:
