I’m going to be taking my QP on a trip to Chicago and back from Toronto in May, which is a bit over 1000 miles round trip. I was curious if anyone has tested the fuel consumption in sport mode compared with regular for highway driving/cruising at speed? I pay attention to the mileage out of curiosity and see 10-13 in the city and 19 was the best on the highway recently. I’m not really a conservative driver in the car, taking advantage of tunnels and curves and passing opportunities with glee. I’m more curious whether the theoretical easier breathing exhaust would make a difference in sport mode.

I do a lot of long road trips. I usually run on the highway out of sport mode and with cruise control on 80. I avg. around 22mpg in this mode, on the highway.

I’m usually out of sport mode too while on the highway. It adds a bit of drone that doesn’t really make it more pleasant. I’m thinking my parking brakes might still be dragging since I’m not seeing mileage above 20.

I would think you might smell them dragging. But I guess you never know...

I use the km/l setting in the display (km per liter) and average 7.6-8.2 most weeks. If accurate, that translates to 29.6 km per gallon (Canadian gallon) or 20 miles per gallon. No complaints there and I don't think my Acura suv does any better. Mind you, I rarely boot it and never off the line, with tires being so darn pricey. On another note, I had an RX7 (1979-carb) and recall a discussion with the service guy. I mentioned that I was only getting around 17mpg. He told me about a client insisting there was something wrong with his RX7 as he was only getting 14 mpg but during a test drive, the owner was peeling consistently and revving to 6000 before shifting. Light feet get better mileage.

If I hammer on my 355, I can get as low as 8 to 9 miles/gal. :oops:o_O
Some of the best money I've ever spent in my life though...

Back in my Misspent youth I had a new R8 Gordini .
All 1300 ccs of it ! Albeit OEM with twin 45 DCOE's
It often managed 8 to 10 miles /gallon. Fuel was less than a Buck a gallon then
Pressure of one's Foot on that little pedal makes Serious difference
