This thread is getting to be only about opinion and not facts.. How many of us here have seen the high side of 150mph in their Maserati?
140mph on a track at the end of a 3/4 mile straight where entry speed to the straight was about 60mph. Felt very solid before some hard braking going into turn 1. (admission: my 04 coupe has lowered and beefed up suspension)

What's awesome on my coupe is how fast it goes from 50 to 100 and how "disappointed" the car feels when you have to let up. Passing cars on a two lane hwy is a dream. I also love the fact that it feels like it will cruise all day at 120 on solid roads. But I have to agree with some earlier posts that it's going to take some good distance to go from 130ish to its 176mph top end. I also agree with most people on the board... if you're going to try for top end.... do it in a controlled enviroment.

Hey...

Trust me. I'm no prude.

But guys...

Do you realize that if you ever got in an accident and it was even suggested that it was your fault for speeding?

Like if you accidentaly killed someone with your car?

That a good lawyer would do the research and before you know it?

That there would be printed out versions of your public posts where you are talking about speeding on pubic roads.

If you live in Germany - all good.

It's legal to go 140 there.

Or you talk about how you went to Montana and you let your car rip.

But geez.

If my daughter got killed by someone speeding excessively.

And we're not talking about 55 in a 35 zone.

But we're talking being T-Boned at 120 mph.

I'll be damned if I'm not going after both the driver and everyone else in the forum the "egged" him on.

And I dare anyone here to say they would not do the same.

We are players here as it is.

Our @ick is as big as it needs to be already.

My advice? Don't blow up your shit online.

We stroll in our Maserati at 35 mph and all eyes turn.

Have fun with it.

Take it to the track.

I'm not some "Holier than Thou" kind of guy.

Just think.

Did the car float? YES

Did you feel safe? NO

Have you been professionally trained to drive? YES

How long did it take? 4 Days for the training. The car took about a minute to hit 165

Did you prep the car for this? YES

Would you do it again? With the stock suspension - absolutely NO
These threads are always about opinion - that's what makes them interesting. I have taken mine up over 150MPH many times with 165MPH being the fastest. In stock trim the car handles far worse than my Infiniti G35 in every meaningfull way and (in my opinion) I am certain that I could run a faster lap time at the track despite giving up 85HP. Top speed confidence is non comparable. The big sedan can run at 140 with more stability the the Spyder at 75MPH.

With the FD springs and sway bars plus corner weighting - different story. I was running a lap time of around 1:40 at Race City which is middle of the road for the exotics but I think I could shave at least 5 seconds or more off that with more supportive seats and bigger brakes. The steering is still twitchy at high speeds (too much boost) but the car feels pretty planted and can be safely taken to 150+ without too much drama.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise not taking the car (with stock suspension) much above 100MPH unless the road is very smooth and straight. A dip in the asphalt especially on a curve could easily cause the suspension to overload, induce snap oversteer and then...

OMG - I hope M-Nut didn't decide to go 169!
My ghost is saying look at post #59.:D I did go 132 on the highway just so you all know and to get it out the way- pleased to say. It really didn't feel all that bad.....no, actually it was exhilarating!! Still going to track school though. All's well mates.

Having posted previously on the topic , one added thing which could install you with a little more confidence massernut is to do a wet/dry handling day, mainly low speed stuff more about control when things go wrong, we do several here in the uk , you experience 3 or 4 different surfaces under differing volumes of water great fun and really can show how inadequate one is untill you master it

Best £200 you could ever spend , its relatively easy to go fast in a straight line and on track, after an hour or so becomes kinda natural controling when the rear starts to break away , but knowing what to do when things do go wrong is far more important in my view
