FYI I just got my heater core replaced through my local indy for 2000 bucks parts n labor... I guess they can now adapt an Alpha Romeo heater core............just the core not the whole heater box..........Keep this in mind as the dealer will not tell you this........New core works great........no leaks and no smell and no fog thank god!

I have only had 1 core failure in my life.....if I recall correctly, it was repaired.

To be honnest while checking the price to replace it using the normal way 3 to 5k using at maserati service, then I was seriously thinking to repare it.
Then I found a posibility to repare it for about 200€ but at the same time I was looking magneti marelli spare parts and I found the equivalence with the alfa one and a brand new one was cheaper than to repare it, so...
To remove everything I spend at least one an a half day but it was realy not easy to find all the screws (behing the airbag..) etc.. so now I think between 6 to 8 hours normally.
As it was not easy when I will have the parts I will describe the way to refit every thing. I think it can be usefull and cost effective 100€ as a total cost...

No I don't have any manuel this is the main reason it take time to removed, I was obliged to discover everything.
please post how your re-install went? what issues and what to be aware of for the involved Do It Your Selfer.....:thumbsup:

Parts arrived
I receive today the new parts it's exactly the same as the maserati one (alfa romeo 166 v6).
The overall cost 72.5€ included transportation....I am crazy when I remember the discution I have with the "Maserati and Ferrari" office in Paris saying we cannot detail the heater and it will cost between 3 and 4K€.
I start at 10h30 local time so it takes around 6hrs to refit everything.
I will try to post something tomorow

the equivalent is an Alfa romeo 166 V6 and the ref you can find Hella, NRF , QH...
I take this one (look at the price...)
1 QUINTON HAZELL Radiateur de chauffage - QHR2153 : 79,55 € l'unité => 79,55 €
The one I install is finaly Internationnal radiator parts number: NHO 808Y 054G the other one was not available in a short time....
I bought trough Enet dealer but it is in the north of France I am sure you can find some in Us the link is:

Not sure I follow. Dealers are "stealers" because they will only use Maserati parts to fix Maseratis?

I think there saying this because they use the same part in different cars but charge more cause of the name. for instance the f-1 relay. theres no way that should cost 100 bucs. another example is the crush washers for when we change our oil. they charge a couple bucs a piece. when i order the oil filter from them they tack on about 4 bucs for the washers.

Just as a reference the original parts is not Maserati one it's a magneti marelli one, in the car they're is a lot of accessories coming from different factory Valeo or Bosh for the ignition . If you go to the dealer you will get the same one
In fact all accessories as made externally as all the car manufacturer.
The bad thing is, There is no reason to say we cannot change a part to sale the overall system.
After dealers have there own charge and cost depending the structure, so price can change, but....
