I'm afraid you probably need to talk to your bank / payment provider. Please let us know the member in question and they will likely be removed.

I'm sorry you've had this experience, however the forum does not, and cannot accept responsibility for transactions between members. It's strictly caveat emptor.

This is not first rodeo in forums. But unfortunately, this is my first time being scammed.

So just to let you guys know that I tried to text the guy a lot of times asking for the item that he's selling. He has a lot of excuses. I mean, I'm not a mean person but I don't really care what happens to your personal life. I just want the item that I bought from him.
He would also tell me he drives to work 18 hrs one way and at one point, he said he got caught speeding and had to spend time in jail.

All this is good. But I want to give him a benefit of a doubt that he might turn around. But he didn't.

The question is, do I post his username here? How do I go about this?

Thanks.

He's a scammer, and this is his scam. He makes you feel sorry for him so you don't report him, keeps you led on thinking that eventually you will get your stuff...then after a year or so you forget or give up and you feel so invested you never report him.

This chase part, that is the scam. He probably has a dozen others on the hook doing the same thing, and he never had your item.

Post his username so everyone can avoid him.

Nothing, really, but the mods will stop him as well as they can. They have more information about him than you do, such as where he is posting from, IP's, user agent, device etc. Things are a little more clear to them as identifiable patterns, but it is a battle for them too.

Keep in mind this isn't a unique phenomenon. You feel like it is directed at you and this is a real person....it isn't.

This person (or entity, or botnet, or government) probably has AI creating and commenting on accounts using AI all over all kinds of forums. They are making their accounts look legit over months of or even years of time. Then they grab a screenshot of some parts somewhere, say they have them for sale on a forum, and then wait. Anyone who takes the bait is just another.

The real fun begins when they get a hold of thousands or millions of accounts, and then they want to change an election or, for another very relatable example, make everyone think that an election was stolen.

It tends to be problematic.
