Won't your insurance less the deductible cover the replacement? Most states and policies cover windshield replacement and if you insist on an OEM piece, it may cost a few more bucks but again, the bulk of it should pe payed for by your carrier. I've had a few done on Porshces and it cost me around $100 I think if I remember correctly.

 

I was quoted $4500 which seems ridiculous, interested to hear what others have found.

 

My insurance will not cover the damage. Two glass companies who have looked at it said the four stone chips are too shallow to fill with the material they use. They say the only way to
fix it is to go the replacement option. The insurance company said it was a cosmetic issue,
not a safety issue so they will not cover it. They bother the crap out of me so eventually,I
will take the hit myself (not with stones).

 

part is 1800 from the dealer, (OEM is Pilkington), installation was $200 for me. very easy installation – same as any cheap car.

 

QP set me back $5500 installed. They had it over a month (waiting on the glass to arrive).

 

That is ridiculous, but not surprising for a Maser dealer. I would go with a nationwide auto glass company. They are quick, reasonable, and guarantee their work. I have had several replaced, even with the radio antenna in them, and they were less than $300, but none on my GT.
Buy an OEM from the dealer, and you can be sure it will happen again.

 

the dealer isn't doing your install either. they sold you an $1800 windshield, charged you $3700 for installation, subbed it out for $300 and pocketed the $3400.

the windshield is totally standard and easy to replace. I took a timelapse of the whole thing from the local discount shop (who were thrilled to work on it) [emoji6]

 

Yep, they had a body shop that specializes in exotics do it. And I'm sure they made a lot of money on the deal. Point is, nobody locally wanted to touch it. And the body shop the dealer uses quoted the same price as the dealer, so it's not like there was any other option. Well, at least any other option that didn't take tons of time calling around every single shop trying to find someone to do it. At the end of the day, time is valuable and you sometimes just have to bite the bullet and call it a day.
