Hello, I'm in pain to buy a new (used) engine for my Quattroporte 2007 (ZF).
But I can't find any info on those engine differences (M139a vs M139P):/
Anyone knows what are the differences between those two? and which i should look for??
Ps.
Don't tell me to choose the one I already have because I currently have a dry sump engine in it - don't ask why:) but yeah it works and drives with it, but the engine was damaged by the previous owner.

Hey ur that guy with the Frankenstein car.... always wondered how it worked out?!
Was the car driving good for some time?

Any 4.2 wet sump should drop into your car as yours is 2007.
That is blue valve covers non facelifted
I'm not sure what those model designations you reference are.

Heh Yeah, The Frankenstein guy :) the car was driving ok for some time... thought the problem with it was that the previous owner bought the oil filter to it according to the car vin...
Maserati didn't think about changing the fitting of this filter when swapped from dry to wet sump... and the engine has been damaged because of this (one of the timing chain tensioners broke and a lot of metal landed inside of the engine). Overall the car still kinda drives... the gearbox shifts are not so bad (I have a 4.2 Jaguar XF with the ZF gearbox and there is not much of a difference between them, Maserati is a little rougher after the shift) but i have a lot of misfires in the engine that's why i need a swap.

As for your response, I plan to switch back to the original blue covers but i don't know which engine i should look for and if both could fit my car - M139a / M139p.
Moreover, can i swap the engine from the Maserati Gran Turismo or do i have to look for one from Quattroporte?
