I’ve really enjoyed all the post here on this site and thank you all for sharing such invaluable information.

After all these years of people posting here and now being it 2022 what in your honest opinion and experience is the best GT model and year to buy, I know it sounds like a loaded question but there is such a wealth of experience here !
I have a mechanical background so I must say the banter about the gearboxes is great reading,
I appreciate all your help
I started thinking about the Levante but my heart is in GT
It’ll be my first Italian car, if it’s anthing like my old Motoguzzi Le Mans 1000 motorcycle, it’ll be a labour of love that’ll make me smile from ear to ear and cry my underpants off in desperation

2018 !

IMO the 2018 is the best year for the Gran Turismo. ALL of the refinements during the production run have been incorporated into the final year production of the Gran Turismo Sport and MC and many are listed in this thread. I have the pleasure of owning a late production 2018 Eldorado White Gran Turismo Sport that was delivered stateside in 2019 that I purchased brand new in January of 2020. She presently has LESS then 3,000 miles on her, always garaged, and from May through October stored in a temp controlled environment. Never driven in the rain or through a car wash. I absolutely love my GTS but when Maserati officially announced a month ago the return of the Gran Turismo I decided that I would order a 2023 in early January and the 11-12 month delivery actually complements my work schedule. My new GTS will be the same color and have the 550HP version of MC20 V6. I am still doing that work thing so my car will be back into storage while I am away. My thought was before I traded in my GTS with the dealer when the new car arrives or to place it on the dozens of marketing media outlets I would first let the folks on the Forum know that my Gran Turismo would be for sale. There is no sense having this beautiful piece of art sit idle when someone could be enjoying her. toolmaker

I’d be a starter, but I’m in Australia and our steering wheel is on the opposite / wrong side 😊 thanks for you reply though all this information is so helpful but I was under the impression that the new GT is going to be electric?

Check out the Maserati Homepage: Maserati GranTurismo : Keep up with latest news | Maserati

They bring the Granturismo with two types of drive: internal combustion and fully electric. The ICE GranTurismo gets a detuned version of the MC20 sports car’s twin-turbo V-6 engine. The entry-level Modena trim makes 483 horsepower but upgrading to the Trofeo boosts power to 542. The most powerful GranTurismo model will be the all-electric Folgore which makes a combined 750 horsepower from its three electric motors.

Yes I read that in the news on the new GT - the Porsche and Audi are doing some good R&D with their electrics it’s turning into a mine field out there, I had to laugh when I spoke to the Audi sales guy and spoke about the electric and asked if they come with a tape of various v8 engine noises that can be played when driving 😉

My Masi dealer had the opportunity to drive both versions, the Trofeo and the Folgore, one after the other. He praised the Folgore enormously. He said that its acceleration was outstanding and what he liked most was the sound design that Maserati gave the Folgore. It must sound extremely exciting and pleasant. A very special, unprecedented sound. Not at all comparable with a combustion engine. They don't just try to simulate an ICE, they give the electric drive its own unique melody. And since Maserati always knew how to design a nice car sound, I think the Folgore will certainly sound cool.

All in all, however, he would still buy the Trofeo. Because, all in all, it is more pleasant and sportier to drive. And once in motion, the Trofeo is not noticeably slower than the Folgore. At higher speeds, the tide turns in favour of the Trofeo anyway. And yes, he said the Trofeo sounds wonderful too. No more V8 sound, but still breathtaking. It remains exciting. I'm already looking forward to driving the first new Granturismo. My dealer said that they will receive the first Trofeo as a demonstration car in spring 23.

It was joke I had with dealer about the tape - Like watching the formula E racing 😉 I think all this technology is amazing and I accept it and kmnow it’s the future - but do I want to buy it yet? as a Guinea pig ? maybe not, I’m old and a little hard of hearing I want to hear a feel the V8 pulse and vibe

Hey Chilli it's toolmaker. In the heat of the of the global 'electric vehicle craze' Maserati has made a commitment to manufacture electrified cars and SUV's including the new GT. Thank god they came to their senses and decided to come to market first with two horsepower versions of the magical MC20 V6 in the new 2023 Gran Turismo and I am going for the 550HP TroFeo. The elec version is called the Folgore. see video attached and safe to click on. The red one of course is the mighty TroFeo and the silver one is the elec version that they don't say much about so one would assume that version is still in development. If this video wont open just do a quick internet search and there are a few videos out now on the new 2023 Gran Turismo. However in typical Maserati and even Ferrari communications there are discrepancies here and there. As an example some articles say 542 HP and others 550 HP and my local Maser dealer's order pad says 550HP so who knows exactly. After you watch these videos it will be crystal clear why I am ordering mine right after the Holidays

Thx for that Toolmaker.
Sooo.......... it turns out we that presently have the older GTs have important and impeccable taste after all.
It seems their investing in bringing it back............ all but the glorious sounds that all of us old school owners will be custodians of for the future.
As you were ladies and gentlemen.

Ciao
