I agree wholeheartedly with Travis. Josh posted last year that he has the entire change KIT for just over $400. Everything you need. Your experiment sounds interesting for some cars, but you really don't want to be replacing your water pump (or worse) to save $450 and zero labor.

Ok, I thought you were going to remove the Maserati core. It's still a gamble I would not take. Not on these cars. Too much risk for the reward. And I would do a heater replacement diy. But, hey, good luck. Let us know how it works.

did you do yours at home?
No. Sorry for the confusing post. Stupid phone. I meant that I would do the job myself and not have a shop do it. In other words, the labor would be "free" and I still would not try to save the $400. My concern with the sealant is that if for some reason like extended heat, something came out of the heater like goo or goo with metal, and went into the thermostat or water pump; I would be really disappointed.

As far as the horror of a core leak, I doubt you are any worse off than doing nothing and perhaps much better.

I can't speak highly enough about FM of Denver. They are fair, professional, courteous, knowledgeable, well, the positive adjectives keep going.

I think whatever you put in there will sooner or later breakdown. If it leaks again you may not see it in time and cause major electrical problems. No way id do it. Buying the kit from Josh is the way to go
Good point. If it waits till summer and you have the windows down more...

I haven't had it done but I do trust FM of Denver to do great work.
