I bought a car, and it has been throwing belts like crazy. The tensioner seems fine, so before I replace that, i am looking for other issues. I am noticing that the alternator has this gap on the mount. Is this normal?

Can someone see what theirs looks like? The gap is created by the bushing that the alternator bolt is going through, so there is no way to avoid it, but I just want to verify that it is correct.

I went back and looked at the photos I took before removing mine. I don't have a clear shot of the passenger side (right side), but sharing nonetheless in case it helps.

Also, look at the TSB attached below, and applicable to M138. It says that poor alternator alignment can cause noise but not belt shredding. So I think your issue is somewhere else.
