2006 GS, 18k miles. AC stopped blowing cold air, though heat and fan still function.

1) I pulled the AC compressor fuse, noticed it was shot.
2) Installed new compressor fuse.
3) Turned on ac and was met with horrible screeching sound from the engine, drew so much power the engine stalled.
4) Turned off ac, restarted engine. All good. Turned on ac, see #3 above. Lather, rinse, repeat.
5) Notice today a sizable puddle of sticky but clear liquid on garage floor beneath engine, it isn't dark like oil.
6) Removed AC fuse as a precaution. Car starts and seems to run fine at idle and with revs, though I'm reluctant to venture too fare from home.

Ideas?

Sounds like liquid was pumped through the compressor. How was the system serviced after the part was installed? Perhaps too much oil?

No service has been done. When I noticed the AC wasn't cold, I replaced the fuse and that's it. The sound that emanating from the engine bay when I ran the AC was unpleasant, to say the least.

Oh, then you probably just need a new compressor/clutch assy.

So in your view, the liquid is related to the ac issue? I'm fine driving without ac for a while...I just don't want the liquid to be something important (it CLEARLY isn't oil).
It probably is oil, it's just compressor oil. First I would take a mirror and flashlight and verify that the oil is coming from the compressor. If so, you'll be ok for a while without the A/C. I wouldn't go forever though. If you have a leak, you have an opening to atmosphere which means moisture. Moisture in the system has to all be removed prior to use.

Sounds like a plan. I greatly appreciate your input.
