Hi all title says it all, QP project ($2300 total at this point) finally started but now no gear select, trans failure, see dealer. F1 pump starts upon opening door, with key on not started I can hear and feel it shift into D and R when I move lever, but no gear select available when started and potentiometer codes 1741 and 1742. Catmanv2 has suggested new clutch possibly after seeing some values I posted in another thread, replace entire actuator was another cost friendly suggestion, and a post from C Waterman seconds replacing actuator by stating failure of the potentiometer is rare in his experience and the codes are merely the result of a failing actuator.
I came across CW's post after I purchased a replacement pmeter removed from a F430 25k miles. It was only $50 (Ebay) so cheap enough part to throw at it, if it cost $500 I would have bought an actuator instead. I'm looking for advice on:
Is it possible to get live data from the pmeter before I commit to replacement? Scan tool is Autel MK808.
Can pmeter be replaced w/out bleeding system?
Anyone replace pmeter and have the no gear issue with those codes resolved?
Approx cost for dealer relearn and gearbox bleed ( if needed) if pmeter is replaced?
Once again thanks for any insight it's super appreciated!
