All GT-S drivers seat electrics stopped working

Hi everyone, (apologies for the long post!)

I have an issue with the drivers seat on my 09 GT-S. I have read all of the posts on here regarding resets, battery disconnections but I feel my issue is a little different. After moving the drivers (RHD) back rest forward and having the seat electrically move all the way forward (to allow access for my daughter) it would not come back and lost all electric movement, including up down, forward / back etc. The seat heater also does not work. I have checked fuses and swapped left to right (as the passenger seat still works) but no luck. I have carried out the 'italian reset' with the battery and fully charged the battery (only 12 months old) and still no luck. I have removed the drivers seat and inspected - tracks etc look fine. I have unplugged and re plugged all connectors under seat but still no luck. I have replaced the drivers seat controller / module as a punt because nothing on the seat was working (black box at the front of the seat with 3 large plugs) but unfortunately fault still remains. I have removed the switch panel from the side of the seat and inspected and can't see anything obvious (read post about water ingress). The only other point to note is that prior to the fault the seat heater was on when the switch was in the off position - There was no display on the dash to say that it was on. I cannot carry out the reset procedure, front back etc with the switch, because the seat will not move at all with the switches. Hoping someone out there can assist as I am now very lost with it and I just want to drive it again!

You need a wiring diagram to be able to check for the power and ground inputs to the seat module for starters..A shop would with the correct software can look at the seat switch inputs via the scan tool...It sounds like you have a power problem if you have no seat functions at all...Jason

Hi Jason, Thanks for the reply - I agree with you that is a good place to start - The issue I have is that I have been unable to get my hands on any sort of wiring diagram. There are so many pins throughout the various modules that it is impossible to guess. There seems to be endless posts about seat issues but they mainly still have some functionality - It is very strange that all functions were working and then suddenly stopped - Consistent with a fuse or direct power but other than the basics its very difficult to diagnose without the schematics. Any other advice or help would be appreciated?

i had no control as well and a drained battery. Appeared to be a stuck seat memory button. One of the kids hit it by accident. It was the first button and hardly noticeable. I was already moving around the electrics and about to order new parts when i found out the button was stuck.

Thanks for that info - I feel as though something like that is my problem - if you can assist with which wire is the source wire I will check it out after work!

Update - So I removed the passenger seat and plugged it into the drivers seat connector (Black) The passenger seat worked correctly in the drivers side position - That must mean that the car wiring and plugs are all OK. Although the seat switches were not identical I plugged the working passenger seat switch into the drivers seat - Fault remained. I then swapped each motor from the passenger seat to the drivers seat one at a time and tested - Fault still remained with all 3 working passenger motors on the drivers seat. I believe I have ruled out car wiring / connections/ fuses / relays etc buy testing passenger seat in drivers seat position. I have ruled out the module as I have replaced it and fault remains. I have ruled out the switch as the working passenger side switch did not work on the drivers seat. I have ruled out the motors as I swapped all working motors from the passenger seat to the drivers seat. The wiring plugs from each seat were not identical - for the motors and the switch but connectors were still the same (drivers seat had a couple of additional wires but I am assuming that has not made a difference. Any thoughts on another part of the seat or the wiring that would affect all seat functionality? Forward / back / up / down / seat heater etc? I am running out of things to try.

Sounds like you are doing some pretty logical troubleshooting by swapping known good parts. A wiring schematic sure would be handy. It still sounds like an issue with a power wire. Especially since you said the seat heater was on when the switch was off and now you have no seat functions. Possibly a power wire has shorted out in one of the wire harnesses. Your probably going to have to use a multimeter to check continuity of each wire in the seat harnesses. One wire at a time, input to output, to verify its good.

No offense and I appreciate your effort, but you are kinda going at this the wrong way.. You already tried replacing a part and now are swapping stuff...I know for a fact that removing the seats from side to side is not easy and it is pretty easy to scratch the car all up...What you need and what I suggested is a wiring diagram...Trying to fix stuff like this without one is very time consuming as you are finding out and just a pain in the ass...You need to measure twice and cut once rather than take all this stuff apart...There was no way all the seat motors went bad at one time...You need power to the seat module...You need the inputs to seat module from the switch for it to provide an output...Jason

Hi Jason, Thanks for the reply - No offence taken - The issue that I have is that reading a wiring diagram is very difficult for me. I am colour blind for starters and I have not done much in the way of wiring or deciphering wiring diagrams before. I am more than comfortable carrying out mechanical repairs, hence the reason to try and swap parts for more direction. Thank I know the likelihood of all motors going at once is extremely slim however I thought they may work in parallel and require them all to work for any of them to. Unfortunately at this stage I can't afford to get someone else to look at it as I have been stood down at work - I will keep plugging away and hopefully get there eventually! Thanks

No worries.. Ok, I understand...I'm just trying to show you how I would go about it....Like I said...You need a power and ground to the seat ECU...You need an input to the seat ECU to make each motor function...The motors are not in parallel BTW...Each one is its own circuit..You also need a power and a ground to the seat switch itself....Most of the time it grounds a wire for a movement...That is off the top of my head without looking at the diagram for that car...Just telling you how most of them work on cars of that era...Later cars have a network between the seat switch and seat module...Good Luck....Jason

Cheers Jason - Thats good starting info. I can't sign up to the Maserati tech info site as I am in Australia and do not have Sales Tax ID etc. I will see what I can find in Aus as it seems I will have to learn to get it sorted! I'll let you know once its fixed!

Hi just confirming - Do you mean the power wire to the seat module / ECU? If you could assist with which wire it was for you that would be great!
