I just wanted to run this by you guys before I proceed with the oil change. My owners manual says the oil used on the 2011 Maserati Granturismo S is.............. API SL / CF & ACEA A3/B3/B4 ........SAE 5W-40
This Pennzoil 5L from Canadian Tire does not have the letters '' CF '' in it . Does it matter ?

CF is an obsolete oil spec, replaced by the current CK-4 approved for diesel engines. The Euro Platinum (SN Plus/ ACEA A3/B3) is the new recommended oil by Maserati. I like to use the Shell Rotella T-6 5-40 for its improved additive package though it is not officially approved for use in gasoline engines anymore due to the updated emission requirements.

T6 has been my go to for years in my Evora S due to its heavy track usage. One of the best out there IMHO.

However, I believe our vehicles require 5W-30. Correct me if I'm wrong....no need to run a 40wt oil unless you live in 100+ degree climate or track the car.

Yes, i quite agree with you on the 5W30 in milder climates. I called Pennzoil engineers once and they told me 5w40 or 0W40 synthetic can be used on Maseratis and Ferraris. Our manual calls for 5W40 synthetic but I think any of these oil weights will be fine for normal daily driving.

Interesting, Maserati/Ferrari of Marin is who serviced my car. They’re pretty legit and they have a above fair rating throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. I would think if it’s on my receipt it would be correct. Maybe you’re right and I need to inquire?!

I would just let it go...You don't want to be that guy...They are buying the oil in bulk and obviously whatever they are putting in the cars works...They will just probably tell you some BS such as it was a billing error etc..Plus you are filming Youtube videos in their shop...:D
