What's the rule of thumb re the mm level at which we sould replace the brake pads on our GTs ? Looks like I have about 5 mm left, on the front pads and the same on the rear pads ( weird, I've never seen even wear on rear vs front, in my experience it's almost a 2:1 ratio ) Anyway, at the service and checkup just about ten months and 10 k miles ago , the pads were measured and they had 8 mm left on them. Assuming the same driving m.o., which in my case is 90 % highway, and compared to a 3 mm use in 10 K miles , I should be able to go at least another 10 k miles before they need to be replaced, when they get down to about 2mm, right ..? Or is 5 mm a threshold when you should really replace them no matter what ?
The rotors look to be in gear shape, no lip, no groves of any kind, just light traces on their exterior surface .

About 3mm or 1/8 inch. is the norm for totally worn out...You have to remember that last part of the brake bad is binding material and not actual brake material..Jason

Oh, right ..I was aware of that , but I misunderstood the post because we were talking about brake pads wear and I thought you indicated there may be a cause and effect on tires wear markings..and I didn't know whether I had one too many glasses of wine the previous night , or not enough coffee in the morning , trying to figure out the connection between the two , lol...
