Not sure that applies to european models Maseratiboy had my kiss point on my 03 coupe 4200 adjusted twice in 3 years , generally before track days i wouldn't have thought US models were any different what do you base your info on Mine has had all the latest software updates that are possible

regards loz

The repair manual has the procedure and reference to Kisspoint setings via the SD3 software. I didn't study it but it would appear that it applies to all model years and the settings are dependent upon which software is loaded.

Just had a quick browse through the Classic Coach Ferrari website , cant find an email address to contact Carlos reference sending my clutch plate over for Kevlar re-surfacing anybody able to post me details ,

After lengthy conversation with Carlos of Classic Coach and Peaco ( the re-manufacture company ) ive decided to definately go for the kevlar ,found out the reasons for the initial teething problems and how they overcame them so my mind is put at rest , little bit different doing the UK guinea pig stuff at arms length so to speak but Carlos assurred me that he's happy to work with the workshop here in the uk if we have any probs

Now to organise getting the stuff shipped to the states should have it all ready to install in around a 6 weeks

Cheers for all the help i'll do a write up once im all back up and running

Great loz, good luck and keep me posted. I will need to replace/rebuuild clutch soon and am likely going to do the kevlar and will have lots of questions.

When i spoke to Carlos today , he mentioned that the initial set up problems were caused by trying to re-use the original F1 sensor , thus it was giving false readings when trying to reset the parameters , fittiing a new sensor apparrenty worked so they fit new sensors now as a matter of course and its proved highly successful . Peaco the re manufacture company dont just coat the existing clutch plate as i was originally led to believe , they mill off all the existing friction material , and replace with 5mm of kevlar bonded and riveted

Looking forward to it now

Loz (et. al.) - so you're going to take the plunge?! Awesome. I can't wait to have a few kevlar rebuilds in operation for a few miles to hear back the reports/feedback.

Can you or others recap the expected benefits of going this route?

The main one Vincenzo is the longevity , quoted figures are between 3 and 5 times the life of a normal clutch, the initial bite is that more instant,

The beauty for me personally having been an owner for some 3 years now , is that it would make me feel that i no longer have to drive the car conservatively the majority of the time , to save clutch life which to be honest is what i do , obviously every now and again i give it some stick but in the back of my mind when those wheels spin the clutch wear is always at the back of my mind, and to be honest for the cost its a no brainer just for the peace of mind , parts in the UK are slightly cheaper and i reckon the whole job should cost around £1300 stirling for the parts , my workshop labour charge was today quoted at £600 total inc Vat so £1900 should see it done around $3000

From what i now understand your normal dealer/indie should be able to fit the Kevlar clutch, the important things to note , is to replace the F1 sensor at the same time, as per the originator of the original thread on this , the early difficulties were due to trying to reset the parameters after installation using the original sensor, having talked to Carlos today the fitting of the new F1 sensor eradicated the problems and the parameters can be reset to the required positions

So in theory now it should be possible for all indies to do it , i'll let you know in around 6 weeks when we see how my guy gets on with it

Here in the US we take a bag full of money that literally weighs 1300 pounds to the dealer... :)
