2002 Coupe Cambiocorsa. The battery is apparently dead on my car. When I went to open the driver's door, the glass didn't go down and the F1 pump didn't whine like usual.

I tried to get to the battery compartment in the trunk, but the trunk release button in the glove box wouldn't work. Probably no surprise there. I got my key and tried to unlock the trunk that way and that didn't work either. The key fit fine in the trunk's lock, but it just wouldn't turn.

Now what do I do? Obviously, I need to get to the battery. Any ideas?

Is there a jump point in the engine bay? My wife's Mercedes has one and it's battery is in the back.
Pretty sure there is and there was a post about it not too long ago. Try a search.

Facing the engine bay in the rear left corner. You will need to remove some of the plastic shrouding. You can't miss it as the wires are like 4 guage (Thick)s

UPDATE - Thanks for all the responses. They were helpful. Before I saw the post on the jump point in the engine bay, I was able to get the trunk open.

A friend of mine suggested that I spray a wee bit of WD-40 on the trunk lock and in the trunk's key slot. That must have helped because before I sprayed the key wouldn't budge the lock. Even with the WD-40 spray, it turned very hard and the trunk only opened after I pressed down on the trunk lid. I don't know if the key is suppose to turn this little, but I would doubt I turned it from 12 o'clock to the 2 o'clock position. Still it opened. Now to figure out if its a battery or alternator. Again, thanks for all the help.

It does not tunr much and is deceptive as the trunk lid does not "pop" as you might expect. Only way I have found is to press down on the edge while turning key and then lift up.

FINAL UPDATE - So, once I got the trunk open, it was on to the next issue . . altenator or battery. I was worried because the battery was put in 01/2010. It was an Interstate battery and I took it to them for testing. The good news is that it was the BATTERY (and not the alternator). The better news is that the battery was fully WARRANTIED! Thanks Interstate Batteries for great service.

Thanks for that update. I too use Interstate, glad to hear they came thru for you.

I have had replacement batteries too from Interstate.

Now you need to determine why it went flat and , if possible , correct the problem.

Simple solution is a battery tender..... which many of us are religious about using to avoid "surprises"

william - this is what I was referring to.

I've got a similar problem. I've got a 2002 Coupe and the battery is dead and the trunk won't open.

I've got a short in the wiring somewhere and the fuse (floorboard of front passenger seat) that protects the gas cap door and the trunk opener buttons that are in the glovebox keeps blowing. I've been ignoring the problem for some time since I could open the trunk manually with the key and I could open the gas cap door by pulling on the lanyard that is next to the battery in the trunk.

Someone recently tried to break into my trunk and he damaged the keyhole for the trunk lock. So now I can't open the trunk with my key and I can't jump the battery to start the car.

I'm going to locate the battery jump post in the engine compartment (previous suggestion to this post) so, hopefully, I'll be able to start the car. However, I still won't be able to open the trunk since the auto trunk opener doesn't work and the keyhole for the lock is broken.

Does anyone know if there is a manual way to open the trunk of a 2002 Coupe? Is there a cable under the seat somewhere that I can pull to open the trunk?

Any idea why the fuse that protects the gas cap door and the trunk opener keeps blowing?

Thanks much!
