Hey,

What are some good companies to insure the GT? My current company Nationwide says they do not insure exotics smh>:).

I got a quote from state farm for $300 a month (They're smoking), I am looking to buy a 2013 GT-S.

My friend refereed me to Chubb insurance (they insure his mclaren).. was wondering what you guys/girls had to say for an insurance company referral and what they current charge you?

FYI: I am a 24 year old Male in Texas.

Thanks and drive on!:ninja2:

If you're looking for a collector policy (limited miles, conditions, but less expensive, good for a w/e driver), try Hagerty Insurance or Leland West.

For daily policy, you really just need to check around as much as possible, hope that helps!

Best Regards,

Not to contradict FD but I too tried Hagarty so I'd have insurance driving her off the lot and found them affordable but VERY limited mileage (2500/yr or something stupid) for $200/mth. I found the same tactic with a lot of the "collector/exotic" carriers. I had a 1600 mile trip from VA to Florida planned to visit family and show the car and that would have meant my car would have basically been garaged for the year shortly thereafter. That was unacceptable. On a whim I asked our daily driver insurance (AAA Midatlantic) and they said sure...its approx $200/mth additional, have a great day. I was blown away and while I hope I never need it they were by far the easiest to deal with.

Correct, the collector policies are only for people that don't drive them often, i.e. weekend, limited miles and even limited purpose in some cases. However, you can also set a fixed insurance value for that vehicle so you don't have to argue later if it's totaled and for many people it's often cheaper than adding it to their insurance for their daily driver.

If you can get an unrestricted policy for a great price, it's likely going to be your best option.

Best Regards,

True true. I suppose I was just taken aback by someone telling me 2500 miles/yr or 250 miles/mth was acceptable. (I dont drive her in snowy months during winter). I like my car too much to neglect her like that. >:)

Auto insurance, exotic or Honda, is very complex. The actuaries try to balance their book of risk. They actually don't want only safe drivers. They balance risk/reward on a ton of demographic, age, geographic parameters etc.

There is never one "cheapest" insurer. You should always shop to find the carrier that wants your demographic that day. It may change tomorrow.

An interesting strategy is to use a mutual insurer that rebates if their loss ratio is better than anticipated. Your premium will probably be a little higher initially, but probably lower on a net basis. AMICA is one such choice-I have no affiliation with AMICA.

As an aside, AARP advertises a cheap senior program, but will not insure exotics even if its a 10 year old $30,000 Maserati coupe.

I pay $120/month for my 2013 gts. Im 24 yrs old and have no family plan or family helping me out. My insurance company messed up lol (I checked all the figures and I am fully covered for the value of the car)

Well, all I can say is I must be in the wrong business. To be 24-25 and own a Maserati is amazing and cool at the same time. Congrats on being able to do so!! That being said, at 24 you can barely rent a car due to insurance requirements. For an older guy like myself in my early 50's my insurance through State Farm is less than 1k a year for 250/500 coverage and a very small deductable of 500. I also carry uninsured coverage with absolutely no mileage restrictions etc. Yes, I live in a sleepy FL town,my record is pretty good overall, and I'm older!:) Gotta pay to play boys!:)

same with me.. i was paying $100 a month for the first 6 months and after that it went to 200 a month.. still not bad for a NYC rate with 100k/300k coverage.

Haha wow alot of responses y'all are highly active lol, It seems $100-$200 ($230 adjusted for my age liability) is my target price range for 100k/300k coverage.

$175 a month with GEICO in Houston. Don't know about Hagerty in particular but Grundy won't insure modern Maserati's (GT included) as collector cars.
Same I am in Houston. I will check out GEICO and a few of the others mentioned, Statefarm came down to $250 after i told them $300 they are dreaming.

Haha that was my favorite line... and haha no I don't do anything too special I am a Software Engineer.. I basically just have a high /hr rate to solve what companies can't solve.

I bought mine for a 30th B-day present to myself, although I'm 31 now, I'm paying $117/month $500 deductible. I use USAA, so unless you have prior military service, or have a parent who has, you won't be able to get it. But if you do, do it! They are amazing!

AIG insures all my cars, and very reasonably. NYC is one of, if not the highest insurance rates in the country right now, and they do my GT, F430, Gallardo, M3, Porsche Turbo S, GTR, Ram pickup and my wife's VW all for around 10k/year.

I'm in my mid 20s as well, my 2009 Granturismo with 20k miles costs me $90/mo through Gieco. That's also for full coverage. Surprised me but I won't fight them on it.

However I bundle with another car with them and have a decent driving record. I also think insurance for some unknown reason is just less expensive in the state I'm in.

call them again. that is BS. my ghibli is insured through them and they were the best deal I could find.

I had hagerty on my QP and was not to bad either. one benefit to Hagerty is you insure it for a certain value and that is what they pay if you have a total loss. so even if the car depreciates (which we all know the do quite quickly) you still would be covered at the original amount of the policy. downside is the mileage limitation.

Lol yeah I have to say that's incorrect. I have no special reason they would do it for me.

Maybe it varies by state? I only called one company and at $90/mo for full coverage I didn't really feel like I'd get a better deal anywhere else and just went for it lol.
