is this normal? if i turn the climate control off it goes off but after a while i hear it come back on but not as loud even though the climate control is still off. My guess is barring in the heater box fan. I did a search and found know one complaining about the same problem unless im looking under the wrong keywords. any advice?

mase, thanx so i know im not alone. But has anyone had it fixed and could tell me the exact problem and there cost on parts and labour trying to figure out if its somthing worth tackling myself.

I don't know bout the two of you and the ticking, but does it gradually increase when accelerating and then decrease when slowing down to a stop? Then starts again in the glove compartment area? if so i have the same problem, and its annoying...................My friends 07 QP does the same thing

Yep, I hear the same noise from the passenger side area near the glove box. I was going to ask someone to look at it... Has anyone tried to look in to it on here? Is there a way to make it stop making that quiet but sometimes annoying spinning noise?

I do not know if it is the same thing but I used to get a ticking noise in the cabin which would appear after about 10 minutes of driving. Took it to the dealer while the car was under warranty and the technician said it was due to some noise insulation that had come away somewhere near the front right side of the car (cannot remember exactly where and what it was).

They replaced the insulation and the ticking noise went away.

So basically, something as audible and repeatable as this ought to be fixed under warranty if you still have it and still ought to be detectable/fixable even if you do not.

It sounds more like a fan spinning slowly and ticking... then slowing down and then speeding up. Sometimes you can hear it stop and then start up again. Its a ticking, spinning, soft sound, as GIO mentioned, most likely from a climate control fan area.

Scot: I ordered a pollen filter and when I go to replace it I will check the fan to see if its touching anything or if anything is stuck in the fan. It sound like its rubbing against something.... I will post what I find when I check on it.

Mowlas: When my AC compressor is running it is making some noise, like it might have a bad bearing or something, but its only making noise when its ON. Do they tend to go bad?

Thank you everyone

Well ..... I may have found (at least) my problem with the ticking.

For my 09 QP, the problem seems to be the device shown in the pictures below.

Re Photo 1: The device is under the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment passenger side.

Re Photo 2: To test if this is your problem as well, start the car and make sure you can hear the ticking from inside the car. It was louder on the passenger side. Touch the device with the RED arrow in Photo 2. You should feel a ticking at the same frequency as you heard inside the car.

Turn car off.

Re Photo 3: to test the problem, unclip the device from the frame. You will also see 2 clips down on the frame. Unclip both of those as well. Use your imagination and find some way to suspend the hoses, wires and device away from the frame ... but still secure. I used the flat plate under the fuse/relay box.

Start the car. The ticking is gone!!

Don't know what the device is! Tried to look at parts diagrams, but so far have been unable to find it.

It has a relay that cycles almost all the time when the car is running. This is the ticking we hear resonating in the car's frame. It looks as if it is part of a fuel or air recirculation system ... but I can't tell.

The ticking sound heard near the fan area/glove compartment is from the relay inside the "Washer Valve" - item # 6 in the parts diagram below. The ticking is carried through the metal body/frame of the car. See my earlier post for the location and suggested method to eliminate it.

MaseQP09: Last weekend I looked in to the ticking noise. I took off the fuse box and its tray, and you are right, the ticking is coming from item #6 in the diagram. what I did was pull it off its bracket thats attached to the body and I strapped it to the bottom of the fuse box tray with a zip-tie. Its on there securely and when you put the fuse box back on the tray you can only see the zip-tie slightly (because I used a white one). I eliminated about 85% of the ticking sound. You cant hear it unless you are in a very quiet area and is sitting there listening for it. MaseQP09: Im happy with the results. Thank you for pointing it out and for all the advice.
