So here is my headlamp switch that just broke.

Hi guys,

I’m at a breaking point now where this car is not as much fun as what it used to be. Seems like everything is breaking now...the “plastic” headlamp switch just literally disintegrated tonight so who know how much a replacement switch will be...this switch is literally like Play Doh right now.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my car and I purchased it not for quality but for fun....part of me wants to sell it right now....but I know I would regret it if I did.

Kindly,
Stephen

Wow Stephen, that's rough.
One thing after another keeping you from enjoying your car, and you have waited so long to get her back.
I think that what you are experiencing is why so many of these cars end up in the hands of loving DIYers, or the junk yard.
Trying to keep them going gets more and more expensive as they age. I know that although I could afford to pay someone to maintain my car, the enjoyment of driving would be diminished by waiting for the other shoe to drop.
By doing my own maintenance and repairs, my attitude is one of " I'll drive it until it breaks, and then I'll fix it".
Stay the course my friend, the balls factor of driving an old Maserati can't be discounted.

Hi Oishi,

You’re right and at the end of the day....I will keep my car no matter what. I just wanted to show prospective buyers what “can” go wrong LOL..

Jason said he would fix my car for free and pay for shipping (LOL)

Timado404 is shipping his three-five-five to me to drive for the summer as he said he needs someone to drive it ;-).

Kindly,
Stephen

@lz33w7 I'm onto this already. Another user asked me to make this for him a bit over a month ago. He is testing the part fits currently, and once he confirms it I will make it available for everyone. It is printed using a commercial printing service and the finish is comparable to the original part - you just need to paint it with a high quality satin black. This should be tougher than the original part.

Oh wow! My headlight knob has been cracked for years and I have never been able to find a replacement, at least at a reasonable cost; so I am very glad you have looked into it and posted this. I actually have several interior trim issues; my cracked headlight knob is probably the least of them, but irritating none the less. I will definitely be on board if a 3d printer replacement can be done and I already have the paint to finish it. Please let me know when available.

Yeah, a real shame they didn't build these cars better, I'm going through the sticky goo interior mess. Hard to believe they didn't correct this problem as soon as it showed up. I love my car but wouldn't buy another, and wouldn't recommend it either - really a shame.

Lambertius - do you make more than knobs, I need to replace all the plastic interior parts covered with sticky goo?

Give Roland@stickyplastics.com or StickyRX an email and either one will get your sticky buttons back to new again.

This took me longer to get to than I hoped, but I have revised the headlight switch cover. I'm confident it will fit now, but am waiting for confirmation before I make it available for everyone. I've confirmed that the light pipe fits correctly inside my print now, and just need to confirm it holds over the light switch. @lz33w7 I haven't forgotten about you, it will be ready soon!

If you want to get a switch cover you can get them here! https://devil.design/product/headlight-switch-cover/

It has taken me a while to learn how to build even a basic website and get stock and ordering and everything going. I'm slowly including all the little projects I've done over the last few years. I'll get the headlight washer covers up again soon. I'll always keep a couple of these on hand now since I wasn't able to find a good webstore for 3D printing, so even if these are showing as on backorder, just order them and there will be more on the way.

Completely unnecessary for some things, but I've also been writing instruction manuals for everything. This one is one of my favourites because I bothered to do FEA on the factory switch and could see the stress that causes them to fail. Anyway, I don't want to do a whole writeup again so screenshots from the manual is good enough!
