I have an intermittent loud clunking sound which sounds like it is coming from the left hind quarter of my 2016 Gran Turismo MC convertible. My mechanic removed and checked the suspension and looked for anything loose under the car. He found nothing. I don't hear it all the time but when I do hear it, the noise is quite loud. Any ideas what this might be?

Do you hear it when you're braking?
Accelerating?
Going over a bump?
Making a turn?
More specifics, please...

It happens when going over bumps but not all the time. I can go over speed bumps or railroad tracks and not hear it, but it could be really loud when going over something much smaller. Also seems like if the car is not going perfectly straight, clucking sound is louder and more prevalent.

Here is my post from 2021 when I found an intermittent loud cleaning sound very much like you described and very illusive...

From your description I had a very similar "pop". In the metal "seat" at the bottom end of the coil springs, gravel collects. As you turn the weight on the spring lessens and increases depending on which way you turn. A small piece of gravel rolled under the end of the spring, when the weight lifted, and as the weight came back down, it crushed "popped" the gravel giving the sound. I blew out the gravel in all four and never have had it repeat in 2 years...Good luck.
