I would agree I’ve pulled easier transmissions before, certainly looks tight. I checked scuderia and I can’t promise you they have one in stock, and did thumb through Ebay and there are a few, haven’t looked at the exotic recyclers, but I’ll be listening in on this post to see it develop. I defer and concede to Jason’s opinion always on these cars due to his experience, I’m purely an enthusiast/amateur.

Thanks for all the info. I heard back from the repair shop with an estimate. $1100 for the flywheel and $2600 for labor. In total abour $4200 to replace the flywheel. Any thoughts??

Jason has already highlighted my ignorance on this so I'll bow out...seems a bit high for me from a parts and labor perspective, but there are a lot of variables that may be driving it up, so it may be completely appropriate. Again...I'm subscribed to this to absorb info, but also I'm hoping for the best outcome for you!

The labors a little high…. I don’t wanna be a know it all since I’ve never done it, and if you don’t have the means of doing this you’re hooped but it’s quoted as a 7 1/2 hour job in the workshop manual…

I'm all about a car shop making a profit..On parts as well as labor, but that seems pretty high IMO....They don't necessarily have to use that labor..We don't for certain things if we are gonna lose our ass on it. Jason

Ya gotta stay in business some how, and I understand there can always be complications…

People have to remember you have warranty time and customer pay..I imagine the 6.7 is warranty...I wouldn't do it for 6.7 I can tell you that...The 16 is slightly high, but not crazy...I was thinking more like 12-13...Honestly shops can charge whatever they want to charge...We don't use a labor guide 70% of the time..I'm the labor guide as I know the cars and the jobs...Jason

I agree, the shop can charge whatever they want as long as it's reasonable. This shop works on Maserati's, Ferrari's, Porshes, Lambo, Aston Martin and others. So I have faith in their work. I can only imagine what the dealer costs, must be astronomical. Going to take 2 weeks to get the part, I will post once the job is complete.

You didn't say where you are located? Where you live has a lot to do with the labor rate..I'm in Atlanta and we are 150.00 an hour on Maserati....California would be a whole another ball game as well as around NYC or Chicago etc....Jason

Arguing with Jason is a fool’s gambit.

I thought you died? Not really...I welcome different opinions...I don't know it all for sure..Everyday is a learning experience or I'm just getting old and trying to sound smart...:) Jason

$170/hr for a shop is probably par for your area based on a little market research. The cost of doing business has certainly gone up, and really isn’t terrible all things considered. The hours quoted is on the fat side as we discussed but probably not wildly off base. I wonder if they aren’t getting a flywheel from local dealer and that’s why it’s so much higher than scuderia, but scuderia may not have in stock (I went through the same thing sourcing my driveshaft I replaced before buying a pull off). I think any vehicle these days, you’re doing good to be out of there for $5k to drop trans, maybe a bit more on AWD systems.
