Although I like the new C8, I wouldn't pay over MSRP for a Vette. Italian super model will be in my garage. I am not a professional racer that will use tracks all the time. Maserati's body line is gorgeous. Get the Maser

Fully agree, the lines on the Masi are flippin gorgeous!

Apologies to all the Corvette fans out there and there is no denial of the car’s performance ( and rather impressive body lines of the latest series ) especially for the money ..but .. the stigma will never ever go away : say Corvette and one immediately thinks of the driver being a middle age balding guy, with a huge belt buckle covering a fat gut, a red satin members only jacket , and a 80s porn star mustache …or, a New Jersey shore dude in his 20s , with gold chains around his neck ..
Having said that , I’d drive a 60s split window Stingray ( with a big block 427 ) any time , any day , without the slightest stigma concern ., love the look of those..

I agree with the stigma of the Corvette, but that is kinda silly..That is like saying everyone with a Porsche is a prick lawyer or doctor or everyone with a Rolls is a pretentious douche bag..You kinda run into that with a lot of cars honestly..There is always some truth behind stereotypes and the Vette has one.. Remember when Cadillac used to be an old persons car? Not anymore as they are making cars that compete with the BMW M cars...J

True, those Cadillacs CTS-V and especially the CT 5 V blackwing , are definitely “ not your grandfather’s Cadillac ” anymore .
You should google the Blackwing thing as it was a really messed up deal..They spent like 16 million to develop the engine and only made like 800-1400 cars with only 6 dudes building the engines..Then they cancelled it...Crazy shit...J

If you want to find a car that maybe a unicorn at some point then that maybe it? A V8 twin turbo hot vee with 670 ft lbs. of torque before Cadillac switched to electric..Food for thought....J

The CTS-V2 manual wagons seem the be the only Cadillac appreciating in value. I am a Cadillac V enthusiast (before they ruined the V badge by slapping it on non V cars), but I don’t think much of the CT6-V (even with its very limited production numbers). My Cadillac dealer is sitting on one now if anyone really has interest. The same dealer (Chevy dealer too) is selling Corvettes at MSRP. Anyone who paid over MSRP is impatient and/or foolish.

I remember when the first Vipers came out ., dealers were selling them at about 100 % above MSRP. Five years later they were going for less than half the MSRP… but eventually , (/although it did take a loooong time ) they started to make up that huge dip . No idea how the new Vette will do in that respect, but if you buy the car with no concern whatsoever for future market value / resale potential ( which is what I have always done with all my cars ) it’s an easy decision : buy the car to simply satisfy your driving passion ..

If you buy anything right now you'll be sorry IMO...I just see a bubble and it won't last...People are paying stupid money for cars right now...If my old BMW was together it would be out of here at this point...Jason

And my vote is for the MC20.
The vette will be at least $50K less, but the uniqueness of the MC20, the sounds, the looks, the Maserati-ness, of the MC20 will make it the more fun car to own. If you’re on a budget, it is a different conversation. (I am on a budget, so no MC20 for me)

For the record..I know I bitch about people not staying on point on this forum..Those are diagnostic threads etc..This was an opinion thread from the original post and has wandered all over the place..Just dudes talking cars if you ask me...J

I love the older Vettes, all day, every day...beautiful lines on those cars.

Yes, looks-wise the MC20 is unique and gorgeous, but it sounds like crap, esp. when compared to the new Z06.

No V6, no matter how sophisticated, sounds better than a naturally-aspirated, hi-revving flat-plane V8.

Why do you think Ferrari 458's are still going for crazy money right now? (Hint: it's the last Ferrari with a naturally-aspirated V8)

In my book, Maserati made a huge mistake for not going with a V8 in the MC20. They succumbed to the environmentalists, not to the enthusiasts.

The centerpiece of any supercar is the engine.

That's why I think the MC20, in my opinion, will never appreciate in value over time as the MC12 did.

"My MC12 has a Ferrari-derived Enzo V12!".........drool. 🤩

"My MC20 has a Neptuno V6!"......zzzzzzz.😴

I’d have to agree with psb1013 on 99.9% of what he said, except when it comes to the market value as time goes on ; I get the sense that the MC20 will be an exception, and whilst it may not appreciate quite as much ( proportionally of course ) as the MC12 has, I think the market value will just keep going up and up …unless they start spewing them out in huge numbers.. And as pathetic sounding as the engine is, compared to a V8 , as manufacturers keep moving more and more to fully electric cars, even this engine will become rare enough and probably much sought after ..IMO.

A V6 is not a rare engine. Think for a minute, how many V8 engines there are in the world right now compared to V6's?......It's not even close. (A V12 is even much, much rarer)

As I'd mentioned, the centerpiece of any supercar is the engine.

A hi-tech V6 is fine for a run-of-the-mill car like the Ghibli or a Levante, but not for a limited-production halo car like the MC20.

Also, it doesn't matter how quick it is or how fast it does the Nurburgring.

People buy supercars for the whole experience. The Sense of Occasion. Sound is a Huge component of that.

No enthusiast worth his/her salt can say that sound isn't important. That's like a movie enthusiast saying that sound isn't important to watching movies.......it's ridiculous.

The reason why 458's are going for almost as much as 488's right now is because enthusiasts care about the sound. No turbo or 4/6 cylinder will ever match the sound of a N/A V8.....ever.

That's why I hang on to my GT. Even though it's slow, heavy and ancient. It sounds like pure heaven. (not even the MC20 can touch it).

Also, what's going to hurt future resale value of the MC20 even more is that Maserati plans to use a slightly de-tuned version of the MC20's Neptuno V6 in other future models such as the Ghibli, QP, Levante, and even the upcoming new Granturismo.

What makes the new Z06 very enticing apart from its sound, is that its engine is entirely bespoke. Meaning, it's not shared with any other GM product, not even with other C8 models.

When engineering the Z06, Chevy thought about the enthusiast, not about the woke climate activists. They'd spent hundreds of man hours re-tuning the engine and exhaust to make it sound like a bona-fide supercar and it paid off.

When I think about the future generations of car enthusiasts, it saddens me that they will never know the joy of driving, hearing, and experiencing a V8 or a V12. Their whole world will be artificial.

2021 final production numbers for Corvette, 26,216. Plenty to go around.

Here is the REAL info
20K over sticker used ( even with two years of production)
So REALLY not enough C8 cars for supply/ demand(y)
supply will eventually catch up another year or two
but resale will stay quite high until then
Expect Z06 to be selling 50-70K Over sticker for a pseudo 458
