Hi guys! I made a post earlier about the difference between MC and Sport. I think I'm leaning towards the MC.
I have done some basic research to figure out how much it costs to maintain a Gran Turismo, but I thought it would be best to ask you guys since you are all owners!
How much would you suggest budgeting a year for one? (I've never owned a high end car before, so this is all new for me!)
Is it best to get it serviced at a Maserati dealer?
I've heard oil changes can cost anywhere from $250 to $800... what does it really cost?
I would probably drive it 5-10k per year...

You can save yourself a pile of cash if you can DIY! Doing my own oil change has been as low as $85.
 
I got 10 gallons of 5w40 Quaker state Euro at Walmart for 20 bucks, and a Ferrari filter from Boch Maserati for $50.
My local Honda dealer does all the other work I want, at a normal rate. The schedule per Maserati is annual oil change, annual filter change (I use a washable one), and general inspection. Every 2 years you can flush the brake fluid.

but I kid you not, and good mechanic can work on these cars for ya. For annual maintenance, even if you don't do it yourself, i wouldn't think more than $250-500.

Really??? That's way lower than I was expecting! I'm not good at DIY at all unfortunately. :/ I was thinking it would be at least $2000-$4000. I'll definitely see if my Honda dealer can service mine!

Yes really that's why these cars are skyrotting in value. People have realized its easy to work on, reliable, etc. Bear in mind this only applies to the ZF (regular transmission) ones. If you get one with an F1 clutch (which if you are in USA, there were only a few hundred) then yeah nobody except a Maserati shop will have the tools to work on it. But the normal one we get in the USA? Just a regular ol' Ferrari V8 and a ZF transmission. Right now with parts shortages for popular cars, the parts I order myself I get from England are cheaper than my Cadillac parts from Autozone...
 
I would still have a European shop work on one rather than a Honda place...The parts etc. are just so much different on Japanese stuff....A Euro car place at least will be familiar with a lot of the parts on the car as some of it is the same as Land Rover, Jaguar, BMW...etc...Jason

Also, for this car, the ONLY time I would ever take it to a dealer is when there is a recall, or if a proprietary software patch is needed and Ferrari only releases them to dealers , or…you need a key fob which must be programmed ..
Otherwise, most top independent high end European cars shops have compatible scanners and computers, and tools and the capability to perform practically almost any maintenance and repairs on this car , generally at significantly lower costs than you’d have to pay a dealer ..

Not really, you don't use a scan tool as much as you would think and the knock off ones will do 80% of the stuff..We honestly use a knock off most of the time just in case it gets damaged or lost..We have a Leonardo for other stuff and Ferrari..Nothing beats a dealer scan tool as they can connect to the manufacture server and get updates etc...I'm not able to do that with my device...Jason
