Parts prices reaching insane heights

These QP V parts, wow. My shop was trying to replace the glovebox door restrictor struts, only to find that one strut from Maserati USA would run $1,700. That's for one of the two struts (they are different for left and right). They're bringing them from across the pond instead, Eurospares to the rescue. Not sure of the price but it's a whole lot less for both.

Another data point for this thread. Today I picked up my car from the shop, where they replaced yet another parking sensor on the rear bumper. A new one from Maserati was $400. They sold me one as "used" from a previous stock and charged $250. 4 years ago I had one put in and it was $150. It's literally like Bitcoin, these parts prices.

There was probably a cheaper option on the parking sensor..On the parts...You do realize it is an older car? They can't just fire up an assembly line to make M139 wheel bearings again? I remember BTW...Maserati is a smaller manufacture of cars and parts can get bat shit crazy expensive as the cars get older...If you search around and do some homework you can usually avoid a lot of the pain...J

When I bought my QP in 2016, it was partly because I couldn't afford to buy a BMW, whose street values were much higher. Once I had it I was hooked on it, and the maintenance costs were high but the parts were sort of reasonable. Now with the parts going crazy and becoming unavailable I might have to rethink my daily driver over the next while.

Yeah I think we all do that, but the savings are not even that big because when the new parts are not available the used ones gain a premium value. I paid $900 for a used ECU that retailed for $1100 when it was available. But a great many if not most parts are not good used, they have to be new parts.

The interior has been mostly removed From the donor car. The car that I removed and transplanted the interior into had a black leather interior. All the leather is in great shape with the exception of the driver seat. Which is a bit worn but can be reconditioned. As for the engine,,, the previous owners oil pump failed. Due to the lack of engine oil the engine itself Rose.
