Performance mods are limited but certainly more than adequate for our type of car. The DBW from Formula Dynamics is a quick/easy option that notably changes the throttle response but has not effect on true hp/tq. It's more of a perception of power. The ECU upgrade (which I do not have) is designed to modify the fuel mapping and engagement speed of the tranny as well as other variables. It's a bit silliy to talk "budget" on a Maserati forum but to me the cost didnt seem worth it and I had reservations about chipping a $100K+ car. Just my opinion. This will never be true sports car in the performace realm. Larini exhaust is a good option to bump actual hp/tq a bit especially with X-pipe, sport cats etc. Though you may want to ask around about interior drone or being obnoxiously loud. Expect ~$10k from block to bumper. Im not even going to endulge the idea of a supercharger $30k+. If you wanted THAT level of power, buy a different car.
Personally, suggest the exterior mods (most bought a GT for looks and sound)...spacers/springs/tint (especially that stupid orange headlight side marker). Then a DBW and perhaps sport cats if so inclined.

Aside from a blower kit from Novitec, sport cats and custom ECU tune is the only other proven option available.

Just curious, has anyone tried a group buy for the supercharger? Would it even be worth the time price wise? $39500 for a supercharger is ridiculous

Novitec doesn't give 1 care about handing out deals. They are one of the last companies in this industry standing that believes in their product and price and doesn't need to make a deal to make sales.

The price only seems ridiculous when one isn't completely familiar with the expenses associated with a fully and properly engineered performance package, which is sold in very small quantities on cars that are expensive, which are expensive to repair if one miscalculates and is in a market with very high visibility.

Hi so this is a very old forum. I just bought a 2013 4.7 Granturismo MC (US Version). I’ve done some research and this are the upgrade you can do to get better performance.

1: BMC Air filter (+3 horsepower) and better sound

2: ECU Tune. There are many out there. I did mine at a custom shop. (+20hp and +30 torque) Also a tip is to tell the shop to add more fuel injection in deceleration to add some cracks and pops.

3: larini sport cats + larini x pipe + larini sport mufflers. With this combination you will get around 25hp extra. It will be loud though.

4: air intake and sound chambers. They sell them on ebay for $250. This will give you better sound and as well like 3hp extra.

5: forget about the DBW that all of you guys use. It’s outdated. Instead, buy the Hikeit X9. This throttle response upgrade will blow your mind. plug and play. This will not give you any performance upgrades in terms of hp, but it will give you a better 0- 60 time. In the most aggressive setting it acts like a launch control.

The HP / Torque numbers for the ECU tune , and the HP numbers for the free flow exhaust system both seem rather “ optimistic “. Dyno tests ( setting the variable conditions under which the test is performed ) can easily be manipulated to produce results which can have as high of a 50% deviation from real numbers . Without independent tests to validate the numbers the claims are just that ..claims. I’ve been around tuners and racers for 40 + years now, so I tend to be a little skeptical as to what can really be achieved vs alleged . As for the free flow exhausts, the increase in power reported is mostly at the top end of the rpm range, and sometimes at the expense of a mid-range loss of torque ( eliminating back pressure is not without a small sacrifice ) albeit very minimal loss and also over a small band of rpms, most people will not feel that ..
But hey, if these figures are indeed the “ upgrade “ performance results to this particular ( 4.7 ) engine , kudos ! , that’s quite impressive .

The Air intake and sound chamber gets you 0 hp gain and no noticeable sound change, Don't believe anyone who says it does..lol ...It is just simply for looks, which I have and love. I have the Sport cats with factory xpipe/resonator. That keeps the stock sound just 30% louder, 18hp gain just with sport cats. Just know when you add the xpipe on, and put a tune to it you will be on the muscle car sound side, You lose that itailian iconic sound, lots of discussions about that. However if you are looking for more HP you are on the right track. The FD DBW gives you sharp crisp shifts, the Hikeit x9 does not provide the crisp transmission shifting. That's huge for me, It just proves throttle response. FD has perfected the DBW in all aspects. I also have a 2013 GTS

Considering this was a 140k car brand new, I think anyone that bought the car used for half of that at 60-80k and really wants more performance should get the 30k+ Supercharger although I think they are few and far between to come by. But Perfomance wise I think atleast for roll racing that 30k and maybe spending 10k of weight savings (lighter brakes/ aftermarket coilovers/etc all small sprung/unsprung weight). could make the GT a nice street machine. I just bought a 2015 in oceana blue metallic with dark tan interior and think this car is the perfect cruising GT car seems unneeded to really try to make something its not... I have a 1995 Turbo Toyota Supra which ironically is worth more then the GT today and way faster. But theres still something that makes me smile more about the GT even though everyone who sees my two cars would rather have the Supra (when they dont know its a toyota!)

buy a different car if you want something to add horsepower to. These enignes are built up to max performance. Maserati had to stroke the engine for the S to get 50hp more.

1: No better sound, no horsepower gain. If you dont mind re-oiling every 10k its cheaper long term compared to paper filter. There are paper filters that have better flow compared to oiled filters and stock
2: ecu tune only is usefull when combined with 3
3: only sports cats add performance, x-pipe and mufflers are just for sound (and fun)
4: no better sound, no horsepower gain. Just looks nice
5: DBW changes gas response and changes shifting behavior. It is weird that you would comment on DBW being outdated, since its made by a Maserati specialist with excellent reviews and all buyers have been positive. Unless you tried both, doesnt seem like you could comment on it.

Or, here’s an option for those who have enough discretionary $$ not to care : keep one Maserati as your touring car, and buy another $ 30-$40 K GTs, to which you can add a Novitec supercharger for $ 30-35 K, and you’ll have a $ 75 K super-toy to play with. Just know that there will still be cheaper, faster , and especially much, much better handling cars out there way under $ 75 K , but alas, they’re not Maseratis ..

Here's a list of my mods. Happy with all of them. Would do them all over again.

2009 F1, 4.7, Skyhook.
FD DBW , love it, best mod out there for me.
FD Front and rear sway bars. Tightened up the handling
BR lowering springs front and rear
Urutu x pipe. Awesome
BR spacers, front and rear
Did the intake chamber mod, looks cool but does nothing, can't hear it over the exhaust
Custom rear control arm bushings I made to offset the camber in the rear from lowering. I will do a thread on that shortly.
