Hi guys,

I am thinking of upsizing my rims to HREs 19 inches (or 20 inches)...

Currently on stock suspension which are coilovers. My ride has been lowered by about 16mm front and 18mm rear.

Do I need to upgrade my shocks and/or springs before upsizing? not sure if the putting on bigger rims with the stock suspension set up will adversly affect handling.

Thanks for advice.

Cheers.

not sure about 20 inches as the ride will be stiffer than the stock due to the need of low profile tires. would suggest 19 + soft compound tires. 20-inch looks meaner though.

which maserati do u have?

i dont think there is any real advantage to 20" wheels on tires on your (4200GT??) considering the unsprung weight and tire choice.

mine is 4200GT

spoke with my mechanic - he is of the opinion that the 19 inch gransport rims is of better weight ( i presume lighter) than the HREs...

just bought a set of ballpolished Gransport rims and I was impressed about
the weight compared to some other brand/rim/types I had in the past.

quality seems to be superior as well (GS rims are made by BBS).

would not go for 20 inch, might look fancy but would definetely 'destroy
the overall look'

Do you have the weights of the stock 18" rims and of the 19" GS rims ?
