I'll be watching this thread closely. I find the factory system in my GTSport ( 2013 , just in case there are different systems in different model years ) to be surprisingly mediocre, given the caliber of this vehicle... But I really hesitate to mess with the integrated multi-media system, without first gaining some comfort level learning what others have done and what it takes to get a much better sound system without compromising any of the various other functions controlled by the main factory unit ..
 
In "theory" could you order the new infotainment system (2018 model) via a dealer and install it in a 2016 GT?
Obviously, camera/tuning dial knob would not be up and running.....

That's a great question ..I'd certainly be interested to know if that's a possibility, but only if the stereo head unit in the 2018 is significantly more powerful, higher quality sound and with a multi-band graphic equalizer , as opposed to what's in the 2013 GTS, which IMHO is barely par with even a dirt cheap $ 125 aftermarket Pioneer, or Alpine, or similar stereos.
