Trofeo and coupe at the track...

Last Friday I was invited to the racetrack by the owner of the Ferrari-Maserati dealer here in El Salvador to play with his personal toy... what a toy!!! a Maserati Trofeo!!!

Words cannot describe the feeling of being behind the wheel and putting the pedal to the metal of that monster... I made a short video and hope you guys like it.

http://www.filelodge.com/files/room11/267572/Maserati Showdown.wmv

On the first half of the video I take the Trofeo for a spin around the track and on the second half I drive my Coupe and my 21 YO son Jorge drives the Trofeo.

Only modifications I've done to my car is the Tubi exhaust and I lowered it... BMC filter should be on the way as I type this... Kevin... you did ship one to Boca Raton Florida last week didn't you??? anyway... I was surprised by the performance of my baby!!! I thought the Trofeo would leave me way back but it didn't although the Trofeo is much lighter, it also has better brakes, stiffer suspension and wider racing tires... I desingaged the MSP and took a few laps to familiarize with the car. You'll see them on the straightaway head to head towards the end of the video... both doing 190+ kmh!!!

The Maserati is no Italian opera... it is pure Rock 'n' Roll!!!!
If you have never taken you Maser to the racetrack you don't know what these cars can do and you might as well drive a Chevy.

Enjoy the video!!!

bad ass mother man do you think I should put the capristo exhaust did the tubi disable your sport switch?
Excellent. Really enjoyed watching the video - thanks for uploading it. Looks like you had a great time and thats what these cars are about. I'm only surprised you were allowed on without helmets - the UK tracks insist on helmets and any video cameras have to be mounted!
Cheers for sharing this with us. What was the tyre wear like? Did it destroy them?
hmbgransport to tell you the truth I don't know much about the Capristo exhaust... perhaps someone here has it and can tell us a bit more about it. I'm happy with the sound I get from the Tubi... I feel Capristo may be a little louder than the Tubi but I'm also planning on going to straight pipes and would not want it too loud. Tubi did not affect anything else than the sound and increased a few almost unnoticeable HP's.

Surfnirvana we really did have a great time. We were unsupervised, that is one of the great advantages of living here ;-) I know it can be dangerous. I expected much more wear on the tires but it wasn't that much and I'm doing this now that I have a set coming my way... but now that I discovered the track I will be using much more tires that before :)

Got the order last week, should be in tommorow and I'll ship it out as soon as it arrives. We didn't have any left in stock unfortunantely.

On another note, awesome video. My question is how was the shifting on the Trofeo compared to your car? It seems like the Trofeo shifted much quicker.

Hmm?? When did Capristo release an exhaust for the GS? I keep hearing people mention it but I've asked Capristo about it a few times and they claim there is no exhaust. Perhaps it's a knock-off?
excellent video!
nice............

Just confirmed with Capristo again NO Maserati exhausts and no plans of future release for now. Next in their line-up is some more Ferrari stuff and the Porsche market. Sad to see.

By the way Paco, there's alot of Maserati enthusiasts on Ferrarichat.com, you should post your video up there. If you're not a member on there I can post it for you with your permission.

...yeap, the Trofeo did shifted quicker than my CC. I think this is due to ECU tunning, straight pipes and much less weight although another difference that the Tubi made to my car was to improve the shifting a bit but nowhere as fast as the shifting on the Trofeo.

Talking to a cousin of mine tha frequents the same racetrack he says that that racetrack in particular is not really for big engines and that is why my car was that close to the Trofeo... we may have never seen the best of the Trofeo. There is only one part at the end of the straightaway that I used 5th. gear (on both cars) and this is only for a couple of seconds only to downshift rapidly to 2nd. for the curve at the end... the rest of the track was done mostly in 3rd. and a little in 4th.

Kevin, I remember you once said you could help me get a stiffer suspension on my car... were you talking about the LeoNardo springs or you had other ideas? I really like the look of my car as it is now but would like it to be racetrack stiffer so I can take those curves better.

Thanks for the feedback on the shifting.

Regarding stiffer suspension at the time we only do Leo Nardo springs. I can give a discount to Maseratilife.com members if it helps. In the past we were looking into other options but the company that was going to help us decided that there wasn't enough interest to begin production on the product.

I posted the link on f-chat. Have fun on your trip and stay safe.

Regards,
Kevin

Obviously I'm the dense one here...but I get an unavailable page when I try to connect with the link provided for the video. What am I doing wrong? Anyone else experience the same problem? I'd love to see this video!!
