Hello Everyone,

It's time for a track day. In speaking with a few other Maserati owners there seems to be some interest in a Maserati / possibly Ferrari too track day for the Southern Cal, Nevada AZ region.

I thought I would put it out there and see if there was enough early interest to make it worth the time of setting one up. If anyone has ever done this and would like to take part in putting it together you are more than welcome to.

Perhaps some ideal tracks are Willow Springs? Spring Mountain? Pheonix? Las Vegas Motor Speedway?

If you are interested, please post your ideas.

This will most likely run @ $350.00 per day and will include at least 3 hours of time on the track. I am sure we can work it out so that we have a driving school there with instructors and different run groups by ability and comfort.

So what do you think? Can we get this done? Anyone a member of a Ferrari/Maserati club locally we can get to join in?

Scottsdale Exotic Car Club ran a track day about a month ago. It was a big success. Had different group levels and all sorts of cars. It was at Firebird Raceway outside of Phoenix, AZ.

I have been considering this for a while but my schedule never seems to mesh with what's available.

Thing is, Speedventures and the like offer track days for $160 or so. $360 is going to be a tough sell. Then again, maybe most exotic owners aren't the incredible cheapskate tightwads that I am.

Spring Mountain is fantastic, it's much better than either Willow track. I've done it three times on the bike. Far smoother and more challenging. None of the bumps. Thing is, most people will have to stay overnight to make it there.

hi guys,

i LOVE the idea:D :D :D , i have wanted to do something like for a long time. i even suggested something like this when we went on the wine rally to napa. ( what a cool trip)

anyway, count me in. i could probably talk to all the clubs and see if we can get a semi private event or if we can even get one done only for us.

i know all of the clubs very well (from speed ventures, TCRA, Speed trials to NASA, SCCA etc.) if you guys want i can probably call and see what's up.

if not we can probably do our own event. (dealing directly with the race tracks)

in terms of tracks, well... they all have there thing. Vegas is cool but to flat, pahrump has some great corners but we fall into the same (flat). willow springs is old but the big track still has its kicks (turn 9 rules), i love buttonwillow and that would be my recommendation. or we could go up north to laguna or sears point.

i really feel we have many options, lets just get organize and do it.

Willie,
I think we need to do this. perhaps the "build it and they will come" method will work? maybe we can team up with the local pca and ferrari clubs??? that would be quite a show and could be fun. perhaps if we get some hype on the forum when it is firm we will get better attendance.

Sounds like you have done this before. Do you want to poke around and see if this is something anyone you know wants to get in on? Maybe there is already a pca day we can jump in on and help thier attendance this winter?

happy holidays

Robb, you beat me to the punch! I have been planning to have a Maserati Life track day to go with our annual Maserati Rally that we had last year in June and have begun initial reseach as of 3 weeks ago. I learned alot from last years event and wanted to one up it this year. My plan was to announce the event once everything was finalized with tracks etc.

Let me know if you need help putting things together. If you can get enough Maseratis I think it would also be cool to do a Maserati only event, just my 2 cents but I always welcome other cars.

Cheers

I don't care where it is, I will travel 3 hours for this. Seeing the lack of interest in this forum it might be tough to do a "maserati only" event.

Willow seems pretty popular. I know nothing about organizing an event, Willie mentioned he knows many so cal eventers that might be able to help put this together.

Willie? what do you think? I will help in any way I can.

Robb,

I'm happy to help as well and will cordinate with Willie to see what we can come up with. One thought I had was a rally to Vegas then a track day at Las Vegas Motorspeedway:

We'll certainly attend and bring our Gransport in case anyone wants to test out the Sport Springs or Performance Chip.

How soon are you guys looking at doing this. I may be able to come. Maybe even with the MVP500 if it's done by then, so you guys can see what a 500hp Maserati feels like!

I would like to get this done before summer, don't know about track schedules. I can 't get a hold of Willie who said he had experience with this and could help organize. Anyone else want to take charge?

TRACK DAY MARCH 3+4th at Willow Springs Big Track

WE are set!

I just contacted the event coordinator for the Southern California Ferrari/Maserati club. They are having a track day and would like to welcome Maserati Life Members to come as well.

Willow Springs March 3-4th 2007. $225.00 for BOTH Saturday AND Sunday! $175.00 for one day only sat or sun.

4 run classes from novice to expert with instructors availible.

@ 2 hours of total driving per day.

This would be a great forum for our track day since we could not afford to do it this cheap ourselves.

Event information can be found on their website at :http://www.fca-sw.org/

Just search under events. There is a hyperlink for the signup next to the event with all the registration forms.

The event is filling up so we must sign up soon! Post here as you sign up to let everyone know who is going!

I am in. PM me with your email address if you need the forms and I will email them to you.

Hope to see you there!

Robb
