TPMS ECU not able to be bought or found anywhere, so TPMS icon stays on in the cluster despite dealer's best efforts to kill it! Bad rear shocks were replaced by dealer, yet the shock icon remains on. What can be done about killing these icons? The car won't fetch much in this shape!

Get the error codes for the Suspension to find out what the Skyhook system is upset about. It's usually a sensor or a shock, sometimes it's the suspension ecu. So the price to repair varies quite a bit buy may only be a $135 part to fix it.

The TPMS error is a widespread problem across the market. I'd be more surprised to see a GT without a TPMS error light. Seems like everyone we see has an error and you're correct, the brand is having a big problem fixing that issue. So at least you should be in a similar position to most sellers.

Hope that helps!

Best Regards,

Dealer informs me that clearing TPMS is a lost cause due to no ECU available; I just don't undersand why the icon can't be killed! Re shocks, I'll speak to dealer as to why they can't get shock error codes to clear shock icon. I'm into new shocks for $6K, and the icon still shows, alternating with TPMS icon. Frustrating.

We have honestly stopped trouble shooting them ourselves. We now sell the sensors only and let owners know that it may or may not solve their issue, no guarantees. Beyond that there really is no clear path to a fix on them as known working parts are not available.

The interesting part is that TPMS is required on all 2007+ vehicles. Unfortunately it's not an option for us to simply manage our tire pressure ourselves. We are required to pay for a system that is installed by a manufacturer and in this case... one that has a very poor track record of working well. My guess is that they can't turn off the light for legal / liability reasons. Again though, many GranTurismo's will have this issue. Inform your buyer that it's a known issue, it's the best you can do.

If you're getting a suspension error on the dash, a code is in the system which hopefully will point you to the cause.

Best of luck but let us know if you need more help.

We looked into shutting off the light via the Leonardo scan tool..It can be done, however it is against NHTSA laws to disable a safety device installed on a vehicle from the manufacture...Even if the customer signs a waiver etc...We decided against it for the reasons Jeff posted above...Very easy to get in a lawsuit and not worth it...Jason

While NHTSA may regulate manufacturers, dealers and licensed repair facilities I would be surprised to see a NHTSA regulation that purports to prohibit a private citizen from disabling the TPMS light.
