For those of you with the TPMS error (yellow triangle) I may have a fix.
I was having this error. I could read all of the tire pressures with a scanner but clearly there was something wrong. I have been looking online for a replacement unit but they are hard to come by and very expensive. About $400 from Eurospares.
So before dropping $400 I thought I'd give a reflow a shot.
I took the circuit board out of the white case and with a heat gun I heated the board until i could see the solder start to melt. Be careful not to aim the gun at the black plastic connector, it will melt.
With a soldering iron I also touched up every pin on the black connector.
Seeing three capacitors, I went ahead and changed those as well. They were two 47uf at 35v and one 2.2uf at 63v. Do this AFTER the reflow or you may burst a capacitor with the heat.
I put it all back together, cleared the old codes and turned the car on. To my amazement the screen said TPMS NOT CALIBRATED. That is the first time I have seen that.
I went for a drive, pushed the calibration button overhead and drove around. After a few minutes I received a TYRE PUNCTURED warning. I know I have a slow leak in the right front tire so I stopped at a gas station and topped them all up.
Got back in and no errors, no messages nothing. Exactly what its supposed to do.
So have i fixed it? I'm not entirely sure, but whatever I did certainly did something. I've had the TPMS error from the day I got the car and this is the first time I have zero errors on the screen (except the dreaded System Not Programmed).
So there you go.
Reflow, change the caps and see what happens. What do you have to lose.
FYI, my TPMS module was the 221360. I imagine the other models are similar.
