Just got a call from Alpine Transportation. They'll be delivering my 2005 Nero Coupe' CC Vintage tomorrow afternoon. I have a nice spot in the garage and a brand new Valentine One waiting for her.

BTW, has anyone tapped the power in the overhead console for a radar detector?

Nice to see another vintage. :)

I hard wired my V1 down to the fuse box. I was not able to identify a wire in the overhead wires that reliably had a switch 12v from ignition/acc.

Glenn,

I'll experiment within my comfort level for the overhead connection. Normally, I'm really good about this stuff. Just a little apprehensive about a basically brand new Maserati. The cigarette lighter looks pretty good for a month or so :)

BTW... I was told Ali is also getting a car from the same truck mine is coming in on....Ali?

That crate looks SLOW!!!! :)
No problem! If you're around this Tuesday or maybe Friday.... The Plano Hooters is about to get regular Masers in their parking lot

Hey guys :)

Well, I just got off the phone with Mike about an hour ago...

"My truck" is going to be in Scottsdale, Arizona tomorrow, ETA for the Maser is going to be late Sunday or early Monday :)

Bee, I originally also thought we were getting our cars on the same truck (Alpine Shipping through MoM), but if that same truck is getting the car to you, then I say we should buy their trade secret and make our own shipping company ;)

Im pretty excited though, starting to go a bit crazy (-er?) though. Either way, it is the weekend, so I can use the time machine (bed) to get to Sunday/Monday faster :-D

Let me know how you like the Maser, I'm just hoping the transmission isnt to hard to get ahold of!

:p

I am pumped...

Haven't been getting any work done though... I was supposed to have everything in place for hte product launch by now... I think I may have to hold it off for about a week though ahah.

How weird is that? We're also doing a product launch in February. The good news is I'm in charge of R&D so our work was complete a long time ago. What kind of work do you do?

You?
PBX telephone system design and manufacturing. If you ever use a telephone the says ESI or IVX on it, it's mine. 15 years and 22 patents with this company. BTW, I've seen our phone systems on TV and in movies over the last 5 years or so. Kinda weird!

Cool!

So you take part in making those giant corporate phones with 20 lines?

;)

What are you guys going to be launching?

Now, that's a secret to our resellers. We launch new products, they (around 300-500) come to Dallas for the big surprise. After they leave we do the press releases. Makes for a much more interesting launch. We go a LITTLE larger than 20 lines. Figure we sell around 250,000 phones a year.

I WANT MY MASERATI!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried every wire there, and didn't find one that was ok.

So I ran my V1 wire down the passenger A pillar, and down into what I call "the avionics bay" with all the relays and fuses. There I found a very convenient loose connector with 12v acc on it.

I can take pics next time I vacuum/clean the mats.

My V1 is also run down passenger A pillar. Remote display is located on "shelf" in front of speedometer/gauge display in lower right hand area. Convenient for pushing the mute button.

Enjoy your new toy.

Radar Detector Hardwire

Yes, run your RJ11 phone wire under the roof liner at the top of the windshield, then down the passenger A pillar (be careful poking the wire in there too deeply with a flat blade screwdriver ...... notice the little symbol that says AIRBAG!!).

After cutting off the the jack clip at the end you're going to wire, remove the plastic sheath and use only the 2 middle wires. You'll have to use trial and error to figure out which is positive and which is negative.

In the fuse block area, use a 12V circuit-tester to find a metal bolt that is grounded (wrap your negative wire around it and re-tighten). Also, using trial and error, find a 5 or 10 amp a fuse that is hot only when the key is on, so you detector shuts off when you turn off the car.

What I always do with a new car is to bare about 3/4 inch of the positive wire and tightly wrap it around one the fuse's blades. Then pressure-fit it into the fuse block, with the blade wrapped with the wire on the cold side (dead side) of the circuit. That way, with the positive wire on the non-powered side of the fuse, my V1 is circuit-protected in case a power surge. The fuse blows and since my unit is on the cold side I won't fry the radar detector. You'll have the same circuit protection that the cigar-lighter plug that came with the unit has.
