About a week or so at 3,000 miles the check engine light came on. I tightened up what I thought was a loose gas cap and called the dealer.

He tolded me not worry that it would reset itself and all was well. After another 100 miles or so, it did not go out so I called and scheduled an appointment. Last night when I started the car, the light went out. About 300 miles and 2 more trips to the gas station.

I am going to cancel my service appointment. Has anyone else experienced this?

Additionally, has anyone added oil to their engine between service intervals. If so, where did you buy the oil?

Thanks. CM

Yes I have topped-up oil between annual services (in the UK).
I used the recommended Shell Helix Ultra oil but the only place I see it for sale is in Shell filling stations. It sells for the extortionate amount of £9 per litre (although there are frequent 2 for 1 offers!).

just go to autozone and they will reset it.

Or, for $50-$150 USD, you can buy an OBDII scanner and monitor the codes yourself.

The ECU will clear the light if the condition does not repeat after a certain number of key on cycles.
This is part of the OBD2 system.
I'd rather read the code and erase it than wait and wonder.
I know where you can get a code reader and book that works in these cars online for $54....
:D
