Yep, 200 mile drive from the dealer but the baby is home at last :D

Superb drive, handles so much better than the Coupe... a bit annoyed by the throttle blipping, in fact my Coupe seems to react much quicker; I will need to get my right foot re-adapted. Otherwise a joy to drive.

Interestingly, got loads of thumbs-up on the motorway, as if people were steering at spaceship Enterprise. Maybe is the color... gunmetal grey (grigio palladio) TBH is a stunner.

Some checks to follow, in particular noted oil pressure dropping slightly under 2.5 bar at service temp and revving at 800 on idle. Any other GS owners on the forum have a view?

Will post pics tomorrow. Now it's 2 Masers on the driveway... until the Coupe goes.

Cheers,

Ed

Cheers..!

Nope, decided to go myself and bring the car back from the dealer. 2 hour journey on the train in the morning, followed by a 2 1/2 hour ride back.

Will give it a wash tomorrow plus a 2 coats of Zymol Royale.

OK, here are some photos. Crap quality IMHO, as were taken with the phone and by the time I was finished with the detail for the day (woke-up at 8 AM and finished 2 PM, still engine to do and finish interior...) a storm of epic proportions lingered above us. 5 mins after the last shoot it started pouring, I mean, literally a curtain of water. Something unseen here in London; looked like the tropical monsoon season...

Anyway, here are the links. Glad I finished with the 2 coats of Zymol Royale some time before to allow curing (although ideally you need 5 hours, it had 2 but very hot ones...)

Cheers Buzz..! This set of photos do no justice at all; poor camera, poor lightning. Under the sun, the grigio palladio has shows some sparks of violet which make for a truly stunning view.

The all-black, all leather nero interior is also tops (that techno cloth used in the GS is so crap) plus the full leather headlining.

As for the Infotainment (I know you want to know about this) the unit in my Maser is a Becker Online Pro. As you said somewhere, it is a nice little unit, sounds very good and with a wealth of features... whilst adding that the Auditorium 200 system is not THAT bad. OK, not a full-blown HiFi experience, but so much better than the stock system. Will need to do some search as for speakers as the door mounts seem to be not the same depth as the ones in the Coupe.

As for driving characteristics, it is clear the GS has a clear edge over the Coupe. Much more balanced, grown-up. Ah, and the OEM Tubis... not as loud as aftermarket, but a nice growl on low revs, without being obstrusive. Cruising is pretty much like stock mufflers. Was thinking of Larinis but now I'm undecided.

You loose the trip computer, but who cares :D

Zymol Royale is a treat. Mind you, the Royale is 7K to 8K bucks x pot in the US with lifetime refills (a friend of mine who properly detailed the Coupe for sale left me enough Royale for 4-5 applications, size of about a golf ball... he's the only guy in the world who has specially-made Royale red for Ferrari). Two proper coats give you a year-long protection (you would need a top-up after 6 months) and depth is incredible.

If you want to see how the Coupe looked afterwards (these are proper photos in an overcast day)

Worth it.

Ed, that deep gloss is beatiful! No question Zymol Royal is the best. However, you can purchase Zymol Ital Estate in small quantities for US $350. Most detailers can't tell the difference between Royal and Ital Estate when properly applied. There's just nothing beter than Zymol.

Hey Ed... congrats on your new toy!!!

cheers,
Thanks Paco. Will try and get some better pics over the week-end.

Buzz you're right, the Zymol Ital Glaze is very good, not quite the Royale, but it delivers. In any case, even the Royale if not properly applied it will look like your round-the-corner cheapo wax finish. I was lucky enough to get some Royale for top-ups of the Coupe, which I then used on the GS for 2 proper coats.

If you see how the Royale beads (this case on a Veyron detailed by Paul Merton @ Miracle Detail in the UK) see
