I think it thinks you stole it... :)

Sounds like some type of security interlock, but not sure. Anything in the manual regarding that light?

Dont you have dealers in Kuwait?
yes we have one dealer, but he's expensive twice than any maserati dealer in the world..

But don't you have twice the money there to pay anyway? <g>

Sorry I don't have anything helpful to contribute, but I guess this means that you finally received your ECU?
I do have twice the money, but will you pay "$11,980.00" FOR THat? no I didn't recieve the ECU and Kevin is not helping, it's been more than 2 weeks since last time I talked to him, he didn't email and he didn't call yet.. my ecu is lost, since Oct\'05.
???Does the car even turn on without the ECU???
after reading the manual it says something about Code Card and its not recongzing the key..
Pretty much all cars have this these days. The keys have a serial number embeddd on an RFID tag, which the car reads when you start it up. This is so that a theif can't have a key cut to match the lock and drive off with the car. It also prevents hotwiring.

I'm assuming you got your new ECU, which would need to be programmed. Normally this would be covered under warranty, but I'm not sure if it will be in your case. Either way it shouldn't take more than about 15-20 minutes. Just make sure you have all of your keys together when they do it, or the ones that aren't with the car won't work.

how can I program it? I do have SD2 and heard from couple of people "Snakon' with the program for alpha romeo will work too, but I just don't know how to do it..
I can't say more than take it to your dealer. They use SD3 now days anyway as far as I know. Beyond that I can't help ya, I still recommend you take it to the dealer.
I already did, but am I crazy enough to pay $2,000 for "PROGRAMMING ONLY?"
or pay $11,000 for keys+ecu? will you do that? this is dealer in Kuwait is psycho!
You probably have more than just keys to program if you have had to replace your ECU. I understand its pricy, but unfortunately this was a risk you took when you shipped your ECU out to have it programmed. I don't know your exchange rates, or even what currency your price quotes are in, so I can't say how expensive it is or isn't, but I think you're better off just biting the bullet, having it done, and just cut your losses where you're at, instead of messing around with a controller that isn't right for the car, and breaking more of its electronic systems.
