so, if your question is asking if the (Spyder) GS's 'surfboards will fit on to a 2002 Spyder, then very likely yes.

What about them (Spyder GS's 'surfboards) fitting a 2002 Coupe? no.

The coupe has a wheelbase 8.6" longer than the spyder.

if you want to fit them on your 02 spyder, you need one from a GS spyder.

on the diagram they look close enough. different part number for screws.
perhaps some modification is necessary as you were told.
