Just got back from having my transmission fluid level checked by my mechanic. He's an independent, so I trust this guy to do any of my stuff that isn't covered under warranty or is a major service. Anyway, he told me that the right-side boot on my steering box is torn and should be replaced. He figured 2 to 3 hours labor + parts (the boot kit is listed at about $45 on Eurospares). Is this something that Maserati would cover under warranty, or should I just have my guy do the work?

not sure if it's under warranty but all i know is that i would spend as little time as possible at the dealership (at least MY dealership!). it got so bad for me that i am having lambo of miami working on my car instead of ferrari/mas in ft. lauderdale. they're a joke. sorry for venting

call the dealer to see if it's covered...if they even hesitate, i'd let the indy shop work it out since it's not an expensive job.

going to the dealer is like going to your Dr.

they will always find something wrong..

OT, but Brumma, who is the person in your Avitar? It looks like Liam Galagher of the band Oasis.

I thought so

Close... it's Noel. Excellent guess though!
hmmm, it really looks like Liam, but I have been a huge fan for years, seen them several times and the first time they came through San Francisco and played a small club called the Bottom of the Hill, capacity of about 350.

I've been a fan for a while as well. I've seen them many times now. Smallest venue was The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. I know it was no where near as intimate as 350 people though! That must have been simply awesome! I did happen to meet Liam at the Hotel/Casino bar the next morning as I was having a pint and waiting for the shuttle bus over to the strip. Overall an excellent experience!

My steering boot was covered under warranty. However the steering rack still leaked, and the subsequent replacement & labor was still covered.
I haven't got any leaks, but my mechanic suggested I replace it to prevent any damage. Unfortunately, it is such a headache to get my dealership to even return a phone call (even more so waiting for them to actually get a part in stock). Even then there's enough of a chance that they'll just it up that I'm tempted to just pay to have my guy do it. Apparently, there are absolutely no dealerships in Florida that are to be trusted...
