Ok,

you purists will slam me for asking this, but the wife will drive the car as much if not more than I will (did buy it for her).

Most cars I have owned have a mode when the Auto Transmission starts off at 2nd gear instead of first. Some call it Winter mode, others call it comfort mode. It is suppose to save on fuel and revs less (by skipping first gear) thus not as loud.

Does the qp have such a mode? I noticed Ice mode which according to the manual does start the car off in 2nd gear, but does it have any other changes, like changing the grip on the road, or handling etc.? If so, is there another way to achieve the 2nd gear start without affecting handling or suspension?

Ice Mode also controls downshifting in such a way as to reduce the degree to which engine breaking is utilized. This reduces loss of traction in slippery conditions when downshifting occurs.

Yes, bad idea. Will also reduce clutch life if you have a duoselect.

In your automatic transmission, not sure. Perhaps if it has paddles too, you can upshift it manually before starting off??
