Try a series of high speed stops to burn off pad glazing. Like 60/70 to 5mph (HARD) about a half dozen times.

Same here I have the quiet pads and still sounds like I am killing a squirrel. I didn't replace rotors with pads though. I am thinking that is the key.

I just tell people....

This car loves to get going........ but hates to stop!!

My squeaking didn't really start until after 15,000 miles or so.
That's a good way to look at it, but I'd get tired of yelling that to everyone at every single stop sign/light. Maybe a bumper sticker???

So it still squeaks then? No remedy?

I'm trying to avoid new rotors. I'm relatively sure, though not certain, that the dealer gave a thumbs-up to the rotors when they installed the pads, so I'm looking elsewhere.

I think that if they had a remote chance of getting me to agree to new rotors they would have mentioned it. That they didn't makes me feel that the rotors are sound. I could be wrong.

Either way, for the installation I'd go to my local indy, but the horse before that cart is me searching for the culprit.

brakes squeak on my 05 QP. driver side rear rotor has a rough surface. i fear the rotor may be the culprit. had brakes checked 1 yr ago by an indy. it squeaked then but my guys told me i didn't need new brakes. i've gone maybe 7-8K miles since last year. no way rotor is bad. pardon spelling error:thumbsup:

Probably because you never used the brakes.

Mine squeak a bit when i'm first driving the car for the day. But it goes away after a bit of driving. Hopefully it doesn't get worse but I've been looking to replace the pads with the dustless ones from FD as soon as I get my wheels.

My wife has an '06 Cadillac Escalade and I have never heard worse squeaking brakes in my life. replaced the pads several times and even went to EBC rotors and it's still there. I can hear her coming from a few blocks away! so embarrassing.

Thanks for all the input. i took the vehicle on a long road trip and did a lot of braking at high speed (whenever the radar detector went off) and it seemed to start up shortly after that.

I will try the high speed braking routine and inform as to how I make out.

Try bedding in your new pads as a start : http://www.formuladynamics.com/documentation/FD_Sport Pads Bed-In Process.pdf

If your rotors are truly in good condition and you have quality, quiet brake pads that were installed properly with a silicone based anti-squeal lubricant, you should be able to beat the squeaky brakes even on the Maserati which is notorious for this problem.

this link posted by Jeff at formula dynamics is the proper procedure, i didn't see this until after , luckily I did it properly.

Thanks again all!

I went for a spin today before putting the Buick to bed for another month...
Got it up to 20,400 miles now, for those of you mulling over buying the car -hint-hint!!

Squeaky Brakes

I am very soft on the brake pedal..... all the info here speaks to hitting the brakes hard to "break the glaze".

I'm not very good at thinking... but.... do you suppose some of us are being too gentle?
And in doing so, are glazing up the pads... thereby creating our own problem of "Squeaky Brakes"??

I was bit harder on them today and I swear it got better.

My miles are high highway so i use my brakes very little/less than some drivers do.

What do the resident Genii think about my thinking/theory??

Recently purchased a 07 QP with 22K miles. Heard a mild brake squeek under light braking at slow speed coming from the right side. Car under warranty...so brought it into the shop and the Maserati mechanic said I had 70-80% life left on pads and squeek was a common issue due to factory pads that are very hard. He said he travels in reverse for a short burst and hits the brakes hard to scuff/clean-up the pads. I tried the reverse thing for one short burst and brake (almost locking up the tires) and it seemed to help some. Will give it a few more shots and see if it completely subsides. Coming out off a 2001 Lexus GS430 and have been spoiled with flawless/quiet operation, but nothing beats the feel/sounds/looks of the QP!

I had squeaky brakes and some months ago installed FD's rotors and carbon / kevlar performance street pads. They have performed flawlessly on both the track and street. And, they don't squeek; I recommend them highly!
