Good news, I was able to get the Skyhook error light to go away. I used 2.4 omhs resistors directly pushed in to the connector that the strut would usually plug into. I then used electrical tape to make sure they were secure...

I didn't suggest the connector to house the resistor rather as a more appropriate method to connect. The firms offering error cancellation plugs use an IP rated box and a tail to the connector. Heat/moisture & tape is not always good in the longterm.
