no, I pulled up some seat frames on eBay and don't even see something that would be there. Maybe something poked it and stretched the leather and it stayed stuck.
It looks like the leather on the lower bolster is pulling away from the black plastic control area. There is a separation there. This made me think it shrunk.
If you removed the that black control housing (not recommended) you would see a solid continuation of the leather with small slots cut into it for wiring and fasteners. I'd say that protruding bump unusual.
This is where filling out your signature is important. If we knew the year and model of your GT you might get more replies.
Hi @doggydaddy, thanks!! This product sounds great for restoring and cleaning leather!!
I don’t really understand how it would help with leather that shrunk away from where it was attached. Do you have any photos of how it helped you with shrinkage?
It softens hardened leather and makes it supple again and prevents shrinking. But it's not magic, if it's to badly shrunk that's it. I've owned dozens of vintage cars and have used it on many. I dont have photos of before and after.
I got an idea. Maybe they stretched the leather to try and repair worn leather on the seat bolsters. I had that happen on a Mercedes where an upholstery shop “repaired” it by cutting out the worn part and stretching the existing leather.
I never thought of that, in spite of the fact that I also had a shop stretch the leather to repair a spot, and although it was not on the bolster, it was also a Mercedes !! MBZs must be known for their “flexible“ leather . Although I don’t recall subsequently seeing any spots on the seat where there were obvious signs the leather was stretched. Or maybe I just didn’t look closely enough .
Use a leather conditioner, it will moisturize the leather and get back to life...leather is a natural product and needs to be conditioned at least once a year otherwise your leather will dry out and eventually start cracking!
Hope this helps!!!
I'm in the Furniture industry that's why I know this.
Good luck
