Does anyone know what this red string is for? I cant seem to find it in the manual.

It is to allow you to open the glove compartment when the power to the glove compartment button is off e.g. if you have a flat battery.

Be careful how you pull it - a gentle pull until the compartment opens. Pull it too hard and it could loosen the lining underneath the compartment (as I found out in a moment of impatience!).

That is the thread that holds the car together. If you pull it the whole car falls apart.

Btw, did you hide the string or left it hanging?
