Has anyone else had issues with the latching/locking mechanism with the rear glovebox in the 4200 Spyders? I have had mine out to the local dealer 3x now for the issue and they cannot seem to get it right. They claim that replacing the entire thing will not fix the problem, they say "thats just they way it was engineered".

Thank you.

Mine hasn't worked since I bought it. None of the Keys will lock or unlock it.

FWIW FMSV told me some story about the car coming with two sets of tumblers and that it looked as if mine had been replaced without being rekeyed. Their most helpful suggestion was to take it to a locksmith and have the tumber replaced with a new one and new key.

I'm taking this up with FMSF next time the car goes in.

What's happening with yours.

Mine kept popping open, esp when I hit a bump.
The dealer, FMOSF, was able to adjust it and it has been fine since.
Sorry I don't know exactly what they did.

Steeldream - I had a couple issues with mine - First, it would not latch down all the way, so they adjusted it, then the key would not lock it (it did before), so they fixed that, then AGAIN it did not latch down when I closed it, basically I had to shut it with the level open, push down, then release the lever. Finally, I took it back in and they made another adjustment. Now, I just need to slam it with the force necessary to get that weight up to the "10" level like those hammer toss games at the state fair. I told them this and they are aware, so I figure if I break the thing I have good recourse for full replacement.

Hmm, mine latches fine and stays latched - just can't lock/unlock with any of the keys.

Kinda a PITA since the glovebox is so shallow it will just barely hold the Owner's Manual and the Valentine 1.
