I have always pronounced it Meerack but after some research I get mixed pronunciations.

The Maserati Merak was named after a star in the big dipper, but even then they have mixed pronunciation.

The star Merak was named after a Arabic word meaning the Loin (of the Bear)...

So do you pronounce Merak?

Just Sayin!

You would pronounce the E as a short e [eh] and the A [ah] the same as in Maserati, that is if you say Maserati like I do. Meh-rahk with the stress on the second syllable. Also, think about how you pronounce Abu Dhabi with the AH sound for the A.

It's sort of like the sherbet thing. Everyone calls it sherbeRt, but there is no R in front of the T. It's wrong even when folks know the correct spelling. Language, it's a funny thing.

Ciao,
George
