Have any of you removed the original air box on your Quattroporte III
and installed individual K&N air filters on each of the 4 Weber DCNF
42 carbs?

I would love to do this as I believe it would allow the engine to
breathe a lot better and give the car a better exhaust note. However,
I have no idea if this will work and/or if there are any problems that
might occur if I do this. I should note that I live in an area where
there are no emissions checks so emissions compliance is not a
concern. Any feedback/input on this idea will be greatly appreciated!

Photos of the K&N air filters can be seen at the following address:

I've done it.

Hi Brandon,

I was google searching and came across your question. It's been a whole year by now, so I hope this is not too late. Those carbs are so close together that filters will not fit right unless you customize them. Or you can use Redline filters which will fit properly. However, they are shorter which does not allow those carbs to breathe as much. I chosed to customize them. And yes, this is how a Maserati should sound and feels like. Fred.
