There are no luxury saloons here, the QP is the only one. Rest of them are coupes! And even the gransport has the same engine, and is a ton lighter!! So you can't compare these. it should be with 750i and S63, and B7 Alpinia=
The C63 is a 4door saloon, so is the CLS55 and CLS63 and that list doesnt even have the monster S65 in it.

Mercedes is the king of ridiculous Horsepower in a saloon, cant argue with 600hp and 1000 ft lbs of torque. 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are faster than a Lamborghini Murcielago.

THe Maserati QP is certainly the most stylish though. It's not fair to compare the QP to those type of cars. The Maserati is like a beautiful woman you have on your arm at the Monte Carlo Casino. Might not be the best as a mother of your kids, but damn are you going to have a fun time.

you just cant compare.

Maserati gets stares and gasps all the time, its super rare. Mercedes are a dime a dozen, you see them everywhere so therfore no one really cares when they see them on the road.

I have an 07 QP Sport GT and have driven it to work for the better part of the last 2 years. I love the ZF tranny for everyday around town driving and the sport mode for when the opportunity is there.. No problems with the car at all and now at about 16k miles. The negative dealer issues I have read about hear are not a problem in the Tampa Bay area. Reeves Imports is here and they have done a great job for me, and they are friendly. I see you are planning on moving to Florida so if you are anywhere near Tampa you will get well taken care of there. It still turns heads and gets a regular thumbs up from other drivers and I can go weeks without seeing another one. Great car, not for sale.

Buy one and enjoy, at any speed.
Reeves is good. The Ferrari dealership they put in Palm Harbor has terrible service.

You can get a Mercedes G55 if you want stares and rarity.

The Maserati is really nice, i just question the reliability. I just bought my wife a QP automatica, so we'll see.

G wagons are nice, but they too are a dime a dozen here in Houston. Just go to the galleria mall valet, and I can assure you will see at least 2-3 of em.

You will love your new Maser. Ive only had mine a week and am already hooked!

I thought G wagons went out of style in the early 2000s. Do they still make those things?
Yep, it's the longest running Mercedes model. Pretty much been the same for over 20 years of production. Only changes are engine size and interior trim/electronics. My family has one from 1988 in Jakarta, it's still the most badass car in the country.

With mention to these track times, the QP wins when it a short, tight circuit, however GP tracks with long straights and long sweeping curves are a different matter. If you open your hood/bonnet and check the position of the engine, its actually behind the front wheels which is what gives the car such perfect balance.

balance

very true, that is what impressed me about the QP, that they could get that 49/51 weight distribution with a front engine by placing the engine so far back .. I think that is why the car is so agile

Then you haven't driven one with a DBW module and ECM unit!!!! It totally KICKS ASS with those put in from Formula Dynamics!

Without it, the stock QP is made for the Luxury driver in mind, so it doesn't really kick in until you "floor" it, but with the DBW and ECM, you have a broad power range until the redline at your toes, power when you want to slam it, anytime, really changes the dynamics of the car, I haven't drove the skyhook suspension, as I have the Sport GTs, it comes with old school bilstein racing springs, no nonsense track suspension set up, I belive, and it is still the most nimble car I have ever driven!! I believe for the size of it, it doesn't even feel as big as ANY other car in its class hands down-

I was about to buy a range rover for my wife, and noticed that the full size range rover is just 2-3 inches longer!! so the QP is a very LONG car. It even handles smoother than my Gransport, but once I switch out the springs on my gransport, I'm sure that won't be the case. (Bouncyness)

In any case, the QP Is a terrific platform to drive as a daily driver with a Race Car engine, Maserati Best of Italy Luxury, and Style, signore Style!!

I now what you mean with the throttle response, its as though its thinking for a moment "does this guy really want to be go FAST, uum yes, OK then BOOM". I guess the ECU/DBW cuts this out.

Did you install both the ECM unit and DBW at the same time? If not, was there a noticeable difference? Im going to buy the DBW, but am still thinking if the ECM will be worth it.

Go for it!

Hey RacinStylez, congrats on your new QP! Yes I did install both!!! You should get both!!! the installation should be done at the same time!! The ECM picks up the "Lag" at lower RPMs and the ECM picks up the power at about 4500 rpms, by mixing the air/fuel better for a more aggressive explosion in your engine, which translates to more power and torque. I was really skeptical at first, but once I noticed the difference between the two, they are totally different products, but they were made for each other. Its almost like part 1 and part 2 of a 2 part necessary mod. Like, almost as if Jeff split it up for people to pick what they want, and how much they want.

YOU GOTTA GO WITH BOTH!!! - you will not regret it!!! I promise you!! oh, and also I went with the Larini exhaust as well, it sounds sooooooo goooood!!! I haven't had time to post pics, weather sucks lately, and I've been busy but I should post soon either way...

Full throttle-

Full throttle to me is whenever I feel like stomping the pedal be it on local roads or highways, so I feel the immediate response, if I drive full throttle on the highway, I always run out of space to drive either way, but its nice to have the power to get out of situations in the highway and to be able to maneuver around the idiots who block you in, or suddenly slow down-

Don't know what the difference would be-

I dont know what the difference would be other than Duoselect Transmission, or the Automatica, I think reliability is the same, and I haven't heard much about wether or not one year is better than the next between the 06 and 07 models, either way, 07 is newer, and newer is always better IMO.
