Hi. Is "Power mode" the same as "Sport mode" on non-skyhook cars? And, will keeping it in power mode prolong clutch life? This is my first priorty. I only drive in heavy city traffic. Thanks. -Bob.

Yes, the "PWR" button is as the same minus the variable shock function of the skyhook cars. As to your second question, I haven't seen any factual or hard number data that supports extended clutch life by keeping the car in sport/pwr mode. Empirically though, most everyone likes the crispness of the shifts in the sportier mode and other observations have determined that reverse (especially up an incline) and "auto" mode are the hardest scenarios on the clutch.

Sport results in overall 20-30% faster shifts, and likely in the 10-20% less clutch wear realm. But this isn't just turning the power\sport mode on - it's also driving it with that attitude.

The cars want to be driven hard. That's how they were built and they're a lot happier if you do.

Thank you very much for replying! I guess I will keep it in "PWR" mode always then. My wife uses the car everyday to go 8 miles to work and 8 miles back and we use it on the weekends. Mostly all heavy city traffic. So, obviously I want to minimize clutch wear. Currently we have almost 10,000 miles on the car. -Bob.
